(Re) Introducing Helios Ale. We’ve rebranded and repackaged the former V-Saison and now introduce Helios Ale. This bottle conditioned, Belgian-inspired ale remains the same refreshing ale that you enjoyed as V-Saison, however, in a more approachable, less expensive 22 oz capped bottle. Helios Ale has an earthy, aromatic hop start and shifts into aspects of lemon peel and black pepper. This is a quenching, invigorating ale, despite its substantial strength.

Thx! to Travlr. 655 ml. bottle sampled. Clear golden wheat colour, clear, almost no white head. Smell cat piss, lightly fruity white berries, fruity hops, sharp funky, fruity yeast,… Taste is odd combo of light lactic wheat, white berries, white fermenting grapes, funky yeast, fruity hops, cat piss, light bitterness, bitter hay, barnyard,… Less carb. bit full – odd.

Bottle at a kraddel tasting, courtesy of me! My 300th saison rating. Hazy bright sunshine yellow color, massive fluffy white head, solid lacing. Aroma of white pepper, straw. Taste is similar, decent barnyard funk.

Bottle from BlackIPA - thanks! Pours hazy amber with a medium white creamy head that slowly dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is yeasty, a bit of funk, citrus, wheat, a bit of cardboard. Flavor is the same, minus the cardboard and plus a bit of spicy pepper as well as some lemon zest. Light sweetness but a dry finish, light zesty bitterness. Medium body, prickly carbonation. Nice beer.

Aroma has lots of nice fruity esters and phenolics. The esters are lemony citrus and pear and the phenolics are coriander, clove and light peppercorn. Aroma is a bit bready but otherwise very nice. Pours a cloudy golden hay with a thick white head that retains some form throughout. Good lacing and small legs. Flavor is fairly malty and bready with quite a bit of phenolics but the esters are lacking. There is a bit of a cider note and the bitterness is very sharp and kind of astringent. Nice dry phenolic finish. The bitterness is a bit too strong and overwhelms all else mid to late palate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium full carbonation. The astringency is moderately high and alcohol warmth is low. Overall the aroma of this beer is deceiving. It invites you in and offers you fruit and spices but then hits you over the head with sharp hops. Tone down the bitterness and pick a different bittering hop and this would be really nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells cidery. Pours golden clear with good lacing, some head. High carbonation. Aroma has brett and some basement musk. Taste is a little bitter, a little sour and some sweetness. Pretty decent beer. On tap at coles.

22oz bottle. Poured a straw color with a nice huge white head. Aroma was sweet malt notes, yeast character, a touch of hop and plenty of spice notes. Flavor was pepper with lemon, touch of hops, spices, sweet malts and a touch of sour tartness, but just barely there. Quite a refreshing and enjoyable brew.

Tap a the Victory Beer Hall Xfinity Live, Philly - 21/05/12. Golden yellow with a finger of white head. Yeast, earthy hops, citrus and a little spice on the nose. Sour and bitter taste, grass, pepper, earthy with summer and citrus fruit in the mix. Medium bodied a little over carbonated for me. Decent refreshing saison.

Bottle from Wegman’s. Nose of citrus and grass—lots of lemon. Rather sweet flavor, fruity, sseet orange, very hoppy, clean, spice and crisp. Not amazingly complex, but very tasty.

Bomber. Pours a hazy blonde with a big fluffy white head that leaves substantial lacing. Aromas of sweet fruit, funky yeast, and spicy citrus prevail. Tastes of lemon, pepper and Belgiian yeast. Clean and crisp with a dry finish. Very drinkable Saison.
