Pine and citrus filled nose from the American hops. Malt sweetness in there as well. Drinkable hop juiciness is the key while remaining balanced with ample caramel presence.

It is said that the return of the HopDevil doesn’t mark the end, but rather the beginning. Each year he comes back to the hop harvest, where he thirsts for one thing – that bold hop flavor with notes of citrus and pine. It’s a menacingly delicious IPA brewed with American hops and meticulously crafted. After all, the devil is in the details.

Had that about 2010, fun to try again. Bottle at home picked up from brewdog online. A light hazed deep reddy orange coloured pour with a loose beige head. Aroma is jammy resinous hop, pine, sticky toffee, some alcohol, little soapy note later. Flavour is composed of toffee, chewy malts, piney sappy hops, bold assertive hop bitterness, pine needles, alcohol bite. Palate is chewy, resinous hop, sticky, moderate carbonation. Pretty assertive stuff.

Rocky light brown head stayed on a hazy caramel coloured still body. Pine, caramel, resin & spices aroma. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated on the front, creamy over the tongue & sharp on the back with a cloying aft. Caramel, demerara, resin, malt, hops, grapefruit & spicy tastes with tangy finish.

Bottle at the Hangover. Amber colour, off-white creamy bubbly head. Aroma is skunky, bit stinky, lots of resinous hops. Taste is decent. Nice hoppiness again, citrus, full on maltiness. Lots of hops unsurprisingly.

Bottle from BrewDog Online. It pours dark orangey - amber with a decent beige head. The aroma is sticky, oily, resinous, piney, grapefruit, orange marmalade, fruit cordial and toffee. The taste is dry, brash bitterness, punchy, resinous, piney, oily, rawness, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, orange rind, dull toffee, kick of alcohol, green and peppery spice with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Good old school West Coast number. A blast from the past, but in a good way.

Cask GBBF. Head disappears fast. Weird aroma: blackcurrant and peach, I can't exactly get my hands (or nose) on it. Loads of flavor. Malty, full bodied, almost thick, in fact. Loads of hops, licorice. Long fruity hopbitter finish. In fact a bit too much of everything.

Pours clear reddish with a thick white head. Aroma of resinous hops. Taste has cedar and some grassy notes. Palate has grassy notes on the nose as well as earthy resin. Not bad.
