Draft: Poured a dark brown to almost black with sliver red edges, head was light brown lacing. Aroma is Smokey, meat, some spiciness of peppers. Taste is meaty, smoke, pepper heat, tingles the tongue. Very depthful for the style.

Tap at Nakameguro taproom. Dark brown, small bubbly gold head. Aroma is very smoky and spicy, can smell the habanero definitely. Taste is nice. Got the real ale texture. Initial smoky roast, hint of the pepper heat at the end maybe, but quite subtle. Decent enough but the real ale thing isn't doing it for me so much. Would probably prefer a keg version.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown to black with a one-finger beige head that lingers. Light smoke aromas on the nose with some coffee, dark chocolate and dark fruit as it warms. Average carbonation with a light body. Smoked nuts, roasted malt on the palate. Dry and roasty with a dry finish. As it warms the finish shows some heat from the habanero but it is definitely muted. Solid stout. --- Beer merged from original tick of Smoke and Fire Stout on 07 Dec 2015 at 21:55 - Score: 7. Original review text: Mild smokiness and light heat, but still a solid stout.

Decent body, nice roasty character, balanced. In no way spicy, but as a stand alone stout, it would be worth having a again.

On tap at Bungalow, it looks like the ABV is now 5.5% A nice looking black pour with a beige head. The aroma is chocolate, a bit sour & vegetal- chili pepper notes. The flavor is smooth creamy dark chocolate with a bit of chili burn in the finish. Tasty! Though I am not getting all that much smoke... as it warms up more smoke comes through in the aroma & flavor it overwhelms the chocolate. Interestingly it is like I started off drinking a chili stout & finished with a rauchbier! Freaky but it was nice the whole way through the glass.

Draft - Smokey with a bit of dark fruit. Jet black with a rich light brown head. Nice and smokey, some dark fruit Nd a finish of chocolate. Where is the Habanero? I reel the slightest tick of heat on my throat, but I think I just want it to be there. Lovely description, bad execution.

Hand pump at Bashamichi. Black, with a nice tan head. Smoky, peppery nose, with light chocolate and coffee. Light, soft sweetness, a bit of chili pepper, a touch of veggies. Rather smoky. Decent but not thrilling.
