Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

(Can) Golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with dried apricots, grapefruit, bread, honey, pears and pine needles. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, pine needles, toast, honey, plum brandy and a generous citric, piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and interesting, but a bit sharp. Quite nice.

Cask at BP Scripps Ranch, apparently cask has pineapple added, not sure if it’s a new entry or not. Pours cloudy orange golden with white head. Hoppy, citrus, vague pineapple, grapefruit. Moderate bitterness in finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle at tasting. Golden pour. Aroma of citrus and malt. Taste has citrus, peach, malt and that typical lager yeast sweetness. Meh.

On a flight at the Ballast Point place in Temecula, California on 9th Feb 2017. Golden amber pour, white head. Citrus notes ruled the nose and flavour, light piney hops almost getting through, but not quite making it. Refreshing enough, but too citrusy for me, even if it was in fact fairly sweet.
