AleSmith Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. Our brewers had such a great time creating it that they decided to brew a new style each year to commemorate our anniversary.

Now, nineteen years after we started, we’re proud to present another great addition this ongoing series, AleSmith Decadence 2014 is our interpretation of a Wheat Wine Style Ale. The generous amounts of wheat used in the his beer impart a bready aroma with hints of honey, ripe fruit, and a spicy graininess. In the finish, a pleasant malty sweetness from the wheat is balanced by the addition of German and American hops. Enjoy this special brew now or age it at a cool temperature for a truly rewarding experience.

My 35th AleSmith beer rating. 750ml bottle. Hazy chestnut brown pour. Creamy beige cap. Sweet caramel malt aroma hints at figs and black currants. Flavor is sweet toasted malt, treacle and black peppercorns. Very little carbonation. Some booziness. Hints of vanilla and dry sherry. Well preserved for a ten year old beer.

For beer style of the months sake I grabbbed this aged brew. Still quite pleasant. Mahogany pour and a beige head still that dissapates medium quick. Nose is cherry and bourbon. Tastes of vanilla, cherry, tobacco, sherry, light moonshine, medicinal. Slick palate. Slight medicine aftertaste. Still nice

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, May '19. Brought by me. Had aged this in the cellar for a few years, and on opening I started to feel a bit of a wally for doing it. Aroma is dusty, oxidised, continuing to taste, though there is some pleasant smooth caramel notes. Clearly though it lacks the depth and richness of flavour that it no doubt had in its prime. Rated kindly.

26th May 2019, Shrewsbury Beer Share Meeting in Chez Sophie; five of us tucked into a 75cl bottle, cheers Mat for bringing this. Amber pour, off-white head. I think this was just a little too long in the bottle because it was both mellow and cobwebby in nature, with only a slight wine and malty presence in the aroma and flavour. Pity, because I bet it would have been fine if we'd had it two years ago.

2014 edition, but with golden lettering, rather than the regular one shown in the picture. However, doesn't state anything about barrels on the bottle, so I assume it's this one ? Pours rather clear, amberblonde. Small to no white head. Smell is sweet, honey, intense, creamy. Taste is full, sweet, tad bitter, noticable booze, fruity ( dried fruits, like figs and dades ) . Medium bitterness, mild sweetness. nice enough, but a bit underwhelmed given the great expectations I have for them.

Draft somewhere in Dayton, OH. Hazy medium orange-brown body, medium clumping beige head with substantial lacing. Fruity, caramely nose reminiscent of rum pudding with notes of fig, sugar, and candy corn. The body follows similarly, chewy caramely sweetness with cloves, toast, and booze. Well-done.
