Bottle shared at a tasting. Thanks TimE. Pours a pitch black with a little bit of head that dissipates. Huge oak forward nose that just doesn’t quit. Quite like being in a nice sento or onsen really. Very oak driven on the palate with some vanilla and roasted malt notes coming out. The bourbon comes out on the finish but isn’t overly bitter by any means. Very smooth and oaky. Good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Stillwater Barrel Aged Series - Folklore (Bourbon) on 03 Jun 2016 at 23:23 - Score: 8. Original review text: Charred oak, onsen notes, great. Chocolate. Fantastic

Pitch black color. Huge chard oak notes That are just massive. The oak is just huge oaky. Biggest oaky nose in the nose like you are in a sauna. Very light body. Lots of oak, but the actually stout is kinda diminished and not so powerful.

New Beer Distributors, NYC ($9): Pours blackish brown with a brownish head. Aroma is whiskey, chocolate, roasted malts, and some nice yeast. Taste is rather light for a stout. Nice light whiskey taste... really not overwhelming. Chocolate is pretty nice here. This is a really subtle example of a barrel-aged beer in my opinion. Sweetness is done just right. Slightly boozy aftertaste.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours dark brown/black with a transient head. Light bourbon/vanilla aroma with chocolate notes. Med body - almost. Flavor is mostly chocolate vanilla with a touch of oak. Finishes towards dry with mild oak astringency.
