Bitter - Ordinary / Best Bitter Regular
Score
6.42
ABV: 3.6% IBU: - Ticks: 159
3.6% on cask 4.2% bottled. It is, quite simply, a wonderful beer. It is exceedingly pale (21-22 units colour), with just a hint of colour in its cheeks from the dash of crystal malt. It has a massive orange fruit aroma from the challengers, balanced by
biscuity malt.

Juicy malt and tart hops vie for attention in the mouth while the finish is tart and hoppy but well balanced by creamy malt. The bitterness rating is a substantial 36-38. The tangy fruit lingers on the back of the tongue until it develops a hint of orange liqueur.

Malt - Maris Otter pale malt and crystal malt
Hops - Challenger

Creamy off white head stayed on an unclear pale amber coloured body. Medium bodied, smooth creamy soft & cloying. Fruity, berry, light citrus & malt tastes with a bitter lightly hopped. Nice enough.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear golden colour with a large thick foamy white head. Aromas of caramel, tea and leafy hops. Has is very similar to the aroma with more caramel, tea and leafy hops with added notes of biscuits and peppery spice. Light notes of citrus coming through also. Very malty with some earthy hops lingering on the finish. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Good traditional Bitter.

Bottle from local Asda. Nice aroma of biscuits, malt and a hint of lemon. Pours golden amber with a small transient white head. Medium carbonation. Malts and biscuit again in the mouth, but now with some bitter hoppiness, which lingers in the finish. A really good traditional bitter- it’s nice to have a beer which tastes of beer for a change !

Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. Beers of Europe. Took a while to track this one down and then it was a case of, Oh... is that it?
