3.6% on cask 4.2% bottled. It is, quite simply, a wonderful beer. It is exceedingly pale (21-22 units colour), with just a hint of colour in its cheeks from the dash of crystal malt. It has a massive orange fruit aroma from the challengers, balanced by
biscuity malt.
Juicy malt and tart hops vie for attention in the mouth while the finish is tart and hoppy but well balanced by creamy malt. The bitterness rating is a substantial 36-38. The tangy fruit lingers on the back of the tongue until it develops a hint of orange liqueur.
Malt - Maris Otter pale malt and crystal malt
Hops - Challenger

Dobry bitter ze sporą i trwała pianą, Barwa jasno miedziana, o lekkim zmętnieniu. W smaku wyraźnie goryczkowe i wytrawny głęboki finisz po przełknięciu. Ten bitter wspaniale pasuje do angielskiej kuchni np. Ryby z frytkami. Pamiętajmy żeby niezbyt mocno schłodzić piwo, a wtedy lepiej będzie smakował.

Amber, clear, dense thin white head, some lacing
Aroma - soft malts, light aroma
Taste - caramel malt, some pale toffee, some soft bitter bit citrus hops, easy, refreshing, then biscuity malts come thorough in the finish
Palate - thinnish body but some oiliness, good texture for abv. Finish - some nice digestive biscuit with a light bitter linger, slight mineral edge
Overall - The cask is far better than the bottle

Half-pint, hand-pulled at the Firs Club, Codsall on 17 Nov 2012. Although I’ve had this at the brewery pub years back I couldn’t really remember anything about it: I still don’t. Light amber body with a thin white head. Aroma was fairly weak: malty mostly, but after the initial caramel hints a fruity, more hoppy smell arrives. The taste is also malts initially with a fruitier and dry hoppy underbelly. Pleasant enough and my first beer at the Real Ale Festival the club was holding. A good solid session bitter with nothing that is going to upset anyone with strong or powerful flavours.

04/05 0.5 l bottle, courtesy of ogivlado, thanks for sharing! OK, this one poured slightly hazy orange body with medium sized head atop. Weak yeasty aroma, some biscuit malt. Slightly bitter herbal flavor, bread and biscuit malt with some chalky stale yeast. Generally light, thin bodied, this bitter had some orange and biscuit finish that was short and watery anyway. It’s not a good beer, it’s another disappointment and I really have to point out it’s a shame how many macro British ales are greatly overrated while the new raters, mainly from UK and US keep copying the grades. Are they rating beers by price?

Excellent tasting version for the bottle, maintaining the pleasant bitterness, but not an overly high one.
