Draft from Ginger 36th. Pours an opaque gold with foamy lingering head. Nose is earth and very floral hops and pine. Taste is similar with very clean finish. Not punishingly bitter at all - a good example of a hoppy beer that doesn’t try to smoke you with bitters.

Bottle. Poured in a glass then a couple slugs from the bottom of the bottle, extremely sharp bitterness. In the glass it gets a big craggy head. It is so sharply bitter astringentness that it makes you shiver after each slug. Not sure if I can finish this bitter BS. It is a mouth rocken +8% and it lets you know. I hope that abv will eventually take the edge off it. Longs strong terrible nearly rude coff medicine finish. Almost comes across like a jagged edge pill. Nasty hoppy mouth coating nellie, even for an IPA. Almost like unflavored nyquil? No, can't be. One purposefully rude mah fah.

Sampled from the tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a clear gold with a slight orange hue and a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has bitter citrus and pine with a touch of resin and sweet grains backing. Flavor has resin and pine up front with resin and some grains underlying.

This is a very good Imperial IPA whoever very much burying the very public trademark. It has there heavy resin forward character rather than now more popular citrusy or tropical fruit characteristics that personally I prefer. It's a good beer but the the Piney resin thing gets a little heavy. There is some malt there but the Hops dominate. Good carbonation medium-length bitter finish. Good drinking beer nonetheless.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy Amber orange color. Big rocky beige head. Rich toasted malt nose hints at caramel. Toasted caramel malt flavor upfront has spicy, earthy notes. Chewy, sticky malty midtaste, with notes of resiny, overripe citrus hops. Finish is spicy with notes of vanilla and warming alcohol. Dank bitter aftertaste. Very smooth for an IIPA. Enjoyable.

Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep gold to light copper with a finger and a half of foam that lingers. Caramel, pine, pungent orange. Bitter and sweet on the palate. Lots of toasted caramel. Piney bitterness. Simple and straightforward DIPA.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. Oh, it's a sweet nose in this. Sweet like in good-sweet. It's a cloudy honey colored one this, a medium sized slowly islandy just off-white head on the top. It's really tropical and fresh piney in the nose. No doubt that it's a double IPA I'm nosing. Pineapple, mango, peaches, melon, soft zesty and grapefruit. Really good stuff. Tastes just as good as it smells. Thick and oily, almost a little syrupy on the taste and it's about average and prickling on the bubbles. Fruity and kinda sweetish, then a massive hoppy sensation kicks you in the teeth. Sticky and really berry concentrated with pine cones and a little warming alcohol all the way in the finish. Really good. 17.06.2015
