22 oz. bottle, year old, 2013 vintage. Pitch black color with thin lasting head in the snifter. GREAT aroma that really reminds me of pumpkin pie and light roasted malts.
Unfortunately the flavor is really over spiced. The aroma was so promising, damn it! The flavor is borderline pumpkin pie with crust but the nutmeg, all-spice and cinnamon make to much of an impact on the palate. Overly spiced. The body is also a tad thin for a high gravity Imperial stout. Yeaaaaah, really a big miss here.

From the start on tap I found this much better than expected. Was thinken this would be some over the top alky thing as many of the riding the crest BS pumpkin ( or with out PK) beers are. Let me tell you, this was quite enjoyable. Smell is attractive stout BO. Perhaps some peanut in the smell and that smell carries over to the taste as weel. Feel is flat, no detectable co2. Quite dark but not hazy. Looks good on the retina. Taste confirms nose must be some peanut in there lurkin in the behind the bushes. FER SURE! Then as it morphs I thin I taste some spice in ther but just barely. Yes, much better than expected, gabbah banbbah hey pinhead. Yes, pretty good for a pumnkmnky based beer if there is any in there, heheh

Some roast and a little pumpkin here. Light spices. Pours black with OK head and lacing. Light bitter and sweet finish. Tap at crios.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 6/26/2014. Black with around a finger of off-white head. Aromas of roast, pumpkin, spices, coffee, bitter roast. Tastes of pumpkin, spices, roast, dark chocolate, vanilla, a slight bit of licorice, some bitter notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Seems like it’s been improved since last year.

22oz bomber pours with a deep amber body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The big brash aroma kicks up cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger as well as lesser notes of graham cracker, pumpkin and vanilla with a thin ring of chocolate. The taste is big and full with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger spiky spiciness filled in by modest smooth slick sweet malts and vanilla. It later picks up graham cracker, pumpkin and chocolate heading to midway. Interesting brew. This could use the spices toned down some in order to improve the experience.

Bottle from Wegmans. Black with a low tan head. Very big pumpkin and spice nose, light chocolate and cream. Very rich chocolate and pumpkin pie flavor, very spicy and tangy. I like it. Sweet but not ridiculous. Full, soft body, rather bitter finish. ST does pumpkin better than just about anyone.

Bomber - pours a dark ruby brown - looks like a glass of Coke - doesn’t look very appealing for the style - this smells and tastes (and looks, really) like they simply made some Pumking and dumped some stout into it - I’ve always been a fan of Pumking, but for me, this simply does not work - the rich pumpkin pie aroma and flavor is not complimented at all by the bitterness and roast of the darker malts, but rather, they clash pretty significantly - and as an imperial stout, this is an epic fail - too thin, not really any impy stout character unless all you expect from a stout is black malt bitterness - but even as a pumpkin beer, it is pretty disappointing - should have just bought Pumking.

Bomber from Beer Run, opened 8/17/14. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of candy pumpkin, squash and a bit of roast. The taste is roast, pumpkin, candy pumpkin, mild hay and vanilla. This is the same bullshit pumpkin flavor from Pumking. I guess I should have known. Artificial tasting terrible dreck.

sort of a brown, hazy not black color. no head.Nose is cinnamon, spice, sea salt, yams and brown sugar. ugh. this is bad. super intense spice like eating pumpkin pie spice out of the canister. then there’s this sweet brown sugar, harsh bitterness. minor sweetness at the finish. Yam / candy yam finish lasts a while.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade.
This was poured into a snifter and a pint glass. There weren’t any significant differences in either glass.
The appearance starts off with a fairly decent darkened brown leading to some light black edges. The head was an off-white to white lumpy glossy one finger’s worth of creaminess. This must have lasted for at least a good minute and a half before it gently dissipated and left a nice light glazing lightly coating the glasses.
The aroma, well, it was like Pumking but way better as it let the stout-like qualities of roasty bitter coffee invade the pumpkin pie qualities of Pumking.
The taste was roasty and sweet from the Pumking invasion. There was a slight Pumking-like aftertaste with a dry roasty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium and didn’t have much sessionability to it. Yup, I was sipping this one. The carbonation seemed on par for the style.
Overall, though I’ve never been a fan of Pumking, this one is actually way better than Pumking as it allows way more roastiness invading at a fairly decent rate on the nose and taste. I’d probably have this again.
