Bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. A dark ruby/brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Sweet, pumpkin, spice, caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon taste/aroma. Quite pleasant but lacking in complexity and slightly thin.

Bottle from a trade in San Diego - many thanks, Jonathan C.!
Hazy black, thin, dark beige head. Aroma of perfumey pumpkin, mocha, pie, chocolate powder, cinnamon, clove. Taste has sweet prune & brambleberry in a dark-chocolatey malt body with notes of bitter mocha & pumpkin spices. Herbal hoppy finish, roasted coffee, spices & warming liqueur-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Decent flavour mix.

Pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate graham malt, and hay aroma - smells great. Black with small brown head. Moderately sweet pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body.

Draft at Squid Lips in Melbourne, FL. Pitch black color with a small, lasting beige head. Spotty lacing. Nice pumpkin aroma without being overly spiced. Initially good dark roasted stout and pumpkin pie spices, then drowned by the 8.6% ABV. It has potential, but it's too boozy overall.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours dark brn/blk with a huge creamy tan head. Aroma of pie spice with a hint of dark malt. Med plus body - cream texture. Flavor is mostly pie spice, but there is dark burnt malt and a hint of coffee. Not dry, but not quite sticky. Moderately bitter. Spice may help with that. Good flavor.

AROMA: Sweet and boozy. Strong scents of pumpkin, milk chocolate, and bubblegum. While scents of cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla are detectable, they are much less prominent. Honestly, it kinda reminds me of chocolate pumpkin pie.

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a small, dirty-tan head that dissipates moderately fast. There is no discernible lacing.

TASTE: The front-end is sweet with flavors of a mild (i.e. lightly spiced) pumpkin pie, burnt caramel, and milk chocolate. The back-end starts off sweet with flavors of vanilla, and brown sugar, but then quickly segues to being lightly bitter with flavors of dark-roast coffee and unsweetened dark chocolate.

MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a smooth and creamy texture. Carbonation is average, which works well with the full-bodied texture. Any less carbonation and the beer would seem flat. Any more carbonation and it would ruin the ultra-smooth texture. It's been a while since I've had such an evenly balanced beer, texture-wise.

OVERALL: I greatly enjoyed the thick, smooth texture of the beer. Which is pure luxury at its finest! And the flavors are pretty delicious, too! My only nit-picks (and they are VERY minor), is that I get more sugar, chocolate, and coffee flavor than I do of pumpkin. This is marketed as a pumpkin beer, so I expect it to be the star. For my taste buds, it is not the star. If they amped up the pumpkin flavor a little and backed off the sweetness a little, then I would be a very happy imbiber! But, even with its "faults", I find it to be a greatly enjoyable beer and will be partaking of another one right after I finish this one.

As I'm sipping on my second beer, I'm coming to the realization that the flavor profile is VERY familiar to me. And that's probably because I've had their Thick Mint beer, whose base flavor profile matches this beer pretty closely. I'd be willing to bet that the base beer for both of them is the same beer, and they just add mint to one and pumpkin to the other. But I'm not complaining, because I enjoy them both!

Dark color with a subtle pumpkin pie spice aroma. Strong alcohol flavor, reminds me of a Belgian strong. Mild sweet pumpkin pie flavor, a nice overall beer. Not overly sweet or spicy. Mild bitter aftertaste.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall pure white head that fades relatively quickly and doesn't leave much in terms of lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, lactose, milk chocolate, allspice, licorice, anise and a deep molasses and burnt sugar note, but the anise, allspice, clove and nutmeg bite are quite strong. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt profile with some earth, a lot of caramelised sugars, some coffee, chocolate, grain, spice and very vanilla-y flavoured profile shows first with a strong sweetness, a dose of chocolate bite and a more refined spice character with some brown sugars, molasses and lactose coming through at the very end. Aftertaste shows some punch with the alcohol and warmth really coming through, but a lot of spice, malt, vanilla and pungent alcohol warmth finishes this off nicely. Overall, a relatively nice and strong, spice-focused stout with a lot of vanilla, caramelised sugars and a pungent grainy, nutty and earthy punch towards the very end that could use some aging, but the body isn't incredibly thick, especially if there really is squash in this one. I sampled this twelve ounce (I can't believe I haven't rated this before!) bottle, purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Columbia Pike), Virginia on 17-October-2020 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington on Halloween 2020, 31-October-2020 after taking my three kids out trick-or-treating here in my neighborhood in the middle of a fake pandemic.
