Bottle. I've been drinking beers for years and I just don't get brett beers. This one is no exception. Funky aroma and taste. Don't care for it.

So, New Orleans trip. Memorial Day. As quick if not quicker than the last trip. Woo.

Bottle. Pours clear amber, medium creamy off-white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is, lemon, oak, stonefruit. Medium tart, woody, light funk, vanilla notes. Medium body. I liked this one. To hell with the ratings.

On draft at Dominion Wine and Beer upstairs. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Aroma of linoleum. Flavors are slightly sour and sweet caramel.

Clear, bright golden with deeper copper hues and a frothy, white head atop that steadily recedes to cover.
"Hard", tannic, woody nose with near-metallic notes, lots of sharp acetic acid and very bright, intense red fruits.
In the mouth it's moderately sour, fairly dry though a touch husky and thin with quickly-fatiguing sourness and a somewhat sterile feel to it overall. Sharp, forced carbonation really ruins this thing for me while the tropical fruit, cherry and acid blend does work to some degree. Strong cereal, vanilla, twangy, bready, sour notes and light vinegar characteristics linger. All told, this is VERY good for Lagunitas (not really saying much) but still misses the whole point of a farmhouse beer (this thing is about as rustic, funky and wild as the inside of a commercial yeast lab).

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber, medium fizzy off-white head, fair retention. Aroma of citrus, berry, and vinegar. Taste is jammy tart cherries, brett, funk, grapes, caramel. Medium bodied, lingering tartness, low carbonation. Solid.

2018 OneHitter Series, enjoyed in Vermont for Easter weekend (thanks Nikki). Mildly hazy golden-orange colour with a warm cap and decent lacing. Farmhouse funk smell with a mix of apples, caramel, sourness (light balsamic vinegar) and oak wood notes. A little more sourness in the taste, but not too crazy. All blended well the rest found in the nose. A nice sour ale that is milder on the sourness, so good to start with in this style. The wood notes are a nice added touch.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/20/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, plum, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, red/green apple, red/white wine, hay, straw, grass, pepper, toasted oak, oaken vanilla, honey, brown sugar, brown bread, and biscuit; with light notes of nuttiness, caramel, leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy/light acidic yeast, bready malt, and red wine barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, plum, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, red/green apple, red/white wine, hay, straw, grass, pepper, toasted oak, oaken vanilla, honey, brown sugar, brown bread, and biscuit; with light notes of nuttiness, caramel, leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light Brett tartness and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, plum, cherry, berry, pear, apricot, red/green apple, red/white wine, hay, straw, grass, pepper, toasted oak, oaken vanilla, honey, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/light acidic yeast, bready malt, and red wine barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from tartness and yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and fairly acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged wild saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy/light acidic yeast, bready malt, and red wine barrel flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink; with the mellowly tart/tannic/spicy/drying finish, never overly acidic. Really well developed Brett complexity, perfect bready malt balance, and a ton of red wine barrel presence. A really enjoyable offering. More of a Flanders red than a saison overall, but very impressive either way.

Fairly standard gussied-up farmhouse ale (which is kind of a weird thing to say, but seems like wine-barrel-aged saisons are a dime-a-dozen these days), with a moderately tart citrus base and hints of sunny meadows and poopin' horses, backed up by a pronounced vinous vein and loads of oak on the finish. Drinkable, but nothing spectacular, with Lagunitas' typical heavy-handed approach blowing any potential saison subtleties out of the water. Not a pretty farmhouse ale by any means, coming out a red-orange with a thin white head and no lace. Red wine on the nose, some oak. Texture's good, if a tad undercarbonated for the style. Pretty much what you'd expect from a sour saison from Lagunitas.
