With Aloha Sculpin, we used Brux Trois yeast to turn our award-winning IPA into a tropical oasis, with bright and refreshing notes of mango, pineapple and guava, along with a slight haze and smooth mouthfeel.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell during A Hoofy Hoppy Snakesgiving Pre Party + Mixing Bowl Asian Grill on 11/21/2018. Hazy dark golden color with a medium of-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Tropical fruit, piney hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine, pineapple and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a tropical fruit and hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours lightly hazy orange-gold. It has a nice tropical fruit aroma. The flavor includes tasty hop bitterness with tropical fruit (as advertised) and a solid malt presence to balance it. Medium bodied. Quite good.

Slightly hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of resin, pine, light tropical fruits, some grain and a heavy dose of alcohol still noticeable on the finish in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive biscuity and grainy malts at first with a big dose of tropical fruits, light resin and a hint of pine near the end, but the focus clearly is on the malts and way less so from the hop perspective, which is very odd for the style and the brewery. Aftertaste shows a strong malt bite with a good resin and pine finish, but not too much malts or grain, and only a small dose of the bitterness at the very end. Overall, a decent, but lacking-in-many-aspects beer that shows the malt at first and much less of the hops than I expected, especially given the other from the Sculpin series. That said, great to sample, here, actually in Hawai'i! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Kona Wine Market in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i [island] on 29-December-2018 for US$4,00 sampled in my hotel room here in Kona, Hawai'i [island] on 03-January-2019.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Had seen this around for a while but hadn’t tried despite enthusiasm for older Sculpins. First surprise - it’s not really hazy. Golden translucent pour with some medium white head. Second surprise - aroma is more Belgian-y esters than anything, some tropical fruit - papaya - hop, and vaguely like cleaning fluid (sort of in the papaya). Taste is also like a Belgian/white IPA in its clove/banana, with papaya/pineapple hops, some sweet caramel malt and alcohol warmth on the finish. Medium carbonation, smooth palate. Totally not what I expected. Not bad for a Belgian-style IPA actually, just not what I thought based on name. Maybe not handled well? Not sure.

Flaska från SB. Tack Vignale.

Solid, well-made ipa. Lacing head and a gold beer, just a little haze. The aroma does have tropical fruit and it is a good fit for the base beer. Fruity, lightly sweet, bread, and moderately hopped. The bitterness is not very high. This is a fun beer.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light tropical fruits, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of citrusy resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light tropical fruits, very nice. On tap at Chicago location.
