Good, sweeter than I like my stouts, but with doughnuts, maple syrup, and lactose in the mix, I guess it should be. Starts sweet and chocolatey, with deep veins of maple and caramel slowly turning to vanilla and fried dough with coffee, anise, and lactose on the finish. I wish the back end had more coffee or roasted bitterness, but cβest la vie. Texture is on the thin side, as is the pour, but overall not bad for another damned pastry stout.

Can from Craft Brewed shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a deep brown to black with a small bit of beige foam that lingers. Roasted malt and espresso forward nose with cacao nib, wafers and slight maple syrup as it warms. Smooth and medium to full bodied. Body maybe a touch on the thin side, but not too bad. Maple comes out as it warms with some dark kit-kat flavors. --- Beer merged from original tick of Breakfast Hero on 20 Oct 2018 at 15:44 - Score: 7

Got in a BIF from KMitch. 16 ounce can into snifter, no can dating. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, maple syrup, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, biscuit dough, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, doughnuts, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, maple syrup, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, biscuit dough, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, maple syrup, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, biscuit dough, toasted dark/brown bread, light molasses/smoke/char, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, doughnuts, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is fantastic dessert imperial stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, doughnuts, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Outstandingly rich/well rounded imperial stout malt complexity, with great flavoring presence/balance, and solid earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
