A special light beer containing only 3.5% alcohol and approximately 35% fewer calories than regular lager beer. But every bit as thirst-quenching and refreshing.

Tasted under its alias Amstel Lite. Typical ’light pils’, with a snow white, finely structured, sticky but not very stable head and brightly golden blonde, cristal clear colour. Aroma faintly hoppy, in an aromatic, flowery kind of way, pale malt and a vague honeyish sweetness, but not much else. Taste a thin graininess and malt sweetishness, smooth, otherwise very neutral and very watery as usual in this type of low-alcoholic lagers, only a very weak hop bitterishness in the tail. Basically tastes like the common Amstel Pilsener diluted with mineral water. Maybe that is exactly what is was.

Clear light golden colour, nice frothy white head, fades after a while, some lacing. Light sweet nose, corn, grass. Taste medium sweet, light bitter. Light body, thin texture, soft carbonation, crisp dry finish.

Oh yeah this beer. Ok, well here’s my take on it.
It was poured into a pilsener most of the time and a couple times poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a super light yellow color with not much of a head staring back at me. Lacing, uh...there wasn’t any.
The smell, it seemed to me, it was a bit corn/rice adjunct like if I could even pull that out.
The taste was basically bland and tried to bring back those corn/rice adjuncts to sweeten it, but they really weren’t there either.
On the palate, it sat super light and showed a great deal of sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed a bit harsh for the style, but it actually wasn’t too off.
Overall, hmmmm....another Light Lager, ho hum. Next, please.

Aroma is all tin and corn. Has a bleached white head with a thin yellow body. Flavour is sour hops with just a hint of aluminum. Weak mouthfeel. Almost offensive, and possibly worse than water.

10th March 2014, British Airways Flight 273: Heathrow to San Diego. The only beers available, this and Heineken, how very British! I had a hire car booked for after the 11 flight, so opted for this offering. First time I have had one since the early 90’s while in Bahrain. Out the can into plastic beaker, it’s a light golden colour with a fast fading white head. Mild hop aroma, mild hop taste. I remember why I’ve not bothered to have one for years. Refreshing but boring and a typical beer of this style, OK if you are driving or don’t want a real beer! Scored kindly because it was free; well, included in the flight cost anyway.

Bottle: Pours clear, light gold, bubbly..with a frothy white head. Grain malt, water aroma. Taste is the same... Very, very, watery.... Not awful...just...nothing really to report here..... Bland...at best.

Sampled from bottle @ The Hague tasting. Clear pale yellow golden color, virtually no head. Smell and taste are only lightly grainy malts and minimal bitterness. Watery body, low carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of Worldbeertaste. Massive thanks :-) Poured a crystal clear light amber with a broken thin white head. The aroma is malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a watery light malt palate and a dreadful aftertaste. Pretty awful!
