Papegaei is a blond beer with an alcohol volume of 8%. The beer is lightly drinkable and has a rich bouquet of hops. Papegaei is brewed with fresh hop flowers, which means that the flowers are dried but not turned into an extract or pellets, so they keep their natural form (and taste!). The mash of Papegaei contains barley, wheat and oats. Papegaei is a top fermented beer with a second fermentation in the bottle. The beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized.

Papegaei is brewed and bottled by Adam Verstraete at the Deca brewery in Woesten.

Bottle from De Rebupliek Brugge. I swear I've had this before. Yes it's a strong Belgian pale. You can taste the strength. Not hot or raw just it's there from the get go. Esters on the aroma.

330 ml bottle. Pours a bright copper color with light head. Aromas of floral hops, earthy esters, burnt banana and toasted malts. Flavors follow same, really bringing out sharp earthy notes and dried banana. Uniquely Belgian and it turns out a great match for a Belgian stew.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Spicy Belgian yeast with notes of sugary fruit, malt, touch of honey. Medium sweet flavour with a light bitterness. Not a bad Belgian Strong Golden ale.

Dorada bastante limpia de no mucha espuma. Aroma floral y especiado. En boca es cálida de fuerte cuerpo y potente sabor malteado con contrapunto muy belga, especiado, cilantro, y algo frutal en un tono general dulce y alcohólico

Bottle from HoTM. It pours ever so slightly hazy blonde with a small white cap. The aroma is soft, sweetish grains, bready, cereal, hay, slight nuttiness, green chalky banana and a touch of melon. The taste is firmly dry upfront with a snap of bitterness, green, grassy, herbal, unripe green banana, slightly chalkiness, damp grain, some spice, pithy, zesty citrus vibes, also estery fruits... melon, pear and a slap of booze with a dry, bitter green finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Pretty punchy. Not bad overall.

Bottle, 8%. Mild bready aroma with a whiff of white wine acid. Hazy dark golden colour. Big frothy semi-stable white head. The flavour is yeasty with a quite malty touch, almost sugary. Distinct bitterness with a woody acid in the finish.
