Bottle [from trade with mista] @ home. Opaque brownish color, light brown head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, huge whiskey, firm but suitable vanilla, slightly alcoholic and pretty bitter. Wow, intens but very very good! Taste malts, whiskey, lightly alcohol, slightly sweet-bitter initially, whiskey bitter with some vanilla sweetness thereafter and wood. Fantastic flavor, great mouthfeel, a bit sticky texture. Oh yes I love this beer! Superb!

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of residual sugars, caramel, rye whiskey, and alcohol. Flavour brings out a huge profile, full of intense cloying sweetness, alcohol, caramel, and more intense sweetness. Fairly complex and cloyingly sweet - too much so. The booze isn't that noticeable but the sweetness detracts. Decent, but way too sweet.

750mL bottle, big thanks to dcschiller for sharing this beauty of a barleywine, pours with a murky mahogany body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up musty sweet prunes and dates, molasses and brown sugar ending in firm booze notes. I’m not sure if these words convey it but the aroma is very inviting. The taste is rich smooth and musty notes with prunes and dates and figs that are covered with brown sugar. It runs quickly into smooth boozy whiskey barrel notes as it heads to midway. This is darn smooth and rich and yummy sipper, lovin’ the hell out of this.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a hazy very dark brown with a yellowish brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is quite sweet with vanilla, toffee, caramel and sweet breads with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is similarly sweet with toffee and caramel with a bit of darker sweet bread and chocolate in the finish.

Just not my style of beer, but still glad to snag a couple of bottles of this. Pours a dark brown with mid-sized, thick head that very slowly dissipates. Aromas include sweet malt, ripe fruit, booze/liquor, some woodsy notes, and caramel and coffee. Flavor is very sweet with quite a noticeable liquor flavor/element to it. At first, I was tasting some licorice, then caramel, vanilla, rye whiskey, and toffee. Very smooth with a long-lasting finish. Think I’ll let my second bottle age a bit more...

Bottle shared by LtDan. Pours with a murky brown hued body with a small tan head. Huge whiskey aromas, melanoidins, lightly vinous, luscious, delicious, caramel. Flavors are big, rough and in your face. Aggressive rye, alcohol, big tannin and big brown sugar. Full bodied, warming. Brash yet delicious!

A beast of a beer that I even drank the day or two after it opened. Chunky thick orange brown body, a red head. Pretty good for the ABV, despite public opinion. Whiskey, warming, boozy.

Bottle provided by CaptainCougar. Thanks! Poured a slightly hazy amber color . Aroma was sweet malts, caramel notes. Look is a bit like a medium-dark cola color with notes of a light brown head. I didn’t get too much of anything other than some sweet, boozy malts - "barleywine."

Sweet malts, caramel. Cola color. Certainly a barley wine.
