Supercool IPA uses saison yeasts at cool temperatures, allowing the profile to only hint at its Belgian-esque roots.

Draft pour pint at Route 2, Monroe. Clean golden pour, plenty of rocky foam head. Really unique IPA, very dry on taste, big floral bitterness, slight funk note. Drenched malt nose, gentle floral hop aroma. Quite sharp with the bitterness on the late palate. Pretty strange, but really not bad overall.

From tap at Upright, Portland. Aroma is Saison-ish Belgian yeast (almost a champagne yeast), bubblegum, soft pale malt, with modest tropical fruity hops. Flavour is sweetish and mildly bitter. Well, this is a βdifferentβ IPA with Saison characteristics. Interesting and enjoyable.

Poured from the tap. Hazy gold with small white head. This is piney and herbal with some diacetyl notes. Not a top beer by any means.

Sampled from the tap at the Portland location. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has pine and earthy grass with a touch of marijuana and grain supporting. Flavor has oniony grass and pine with a bit of marijuana and grain backing.

Interesting. Definite bit of cheesy funk to it but the hops and citrus are there too. Slight sourness. Nice.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy golden colour, a bit dull. And dull is the malt base, earthy and tired are the hops; the finish is pithy.
Even if I had this beer 5 years ago, I wouldn't have thought of it as super cool. Not good.

Nonic pint draft at Upright Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon. The pour is a mostly clear golden with a one inch well formed white head that is quite lasting. The aroma is bright citrus, softly bitter hops along with cereal grain malt and hints of Belgian yeast. The taste is a nice blend of the pineapple lemon citrus hops, soft bitterness, malt backbone and softly earth yeast finish. The palate is medium bodied, active carbonation and the bitter and yeast finish. NIce one.

12.7 oz bottle. Aroma is dust, berries, floral, Fun Dip stix. Pours hazy deep gold with a thick off-white head with excellent retention. Taste is moderately bitter with some vaguely fruity esters, light to moderate Belgian yeast influence. Highly carbonated foamy mouthfeel. More like an overly bitter saison than any kind of IPA.
