From a 330ml bottle on 27/3/2012. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a big head. The aroma is relatively subdued for an IPA, with some restrained floral, fruity and piney notes. There is a muted sweetness at the beginning, but less caramel and fruit than you often get in a big IPA. Has quite an assertive, grapefruit hop bitterness at the back. This is a high quality IPA, but probably not as enjoyable as some other Mikkellers I’ve had.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentine. Thanks Yoav. Slightly hazy amber. Aroma of citric and slightly floral hops. Pleasant citric hoppy flavor with light sweetness and nice lingering moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle at Tilt. Pours orange with a white head. Hoppy aroma of pine and citrus with tropical fruits. Sweet and fruity with a nice hoppy bitterness. Well balanced beer. Dry and bitter finish. Nice IPA with one of my favourite hops.

Aroma: Malt, tea, oranges and pine.
Appearance: Clear amber body. Huge off-white head. Light carbonation. Good lacing.
Taste: Lots of pine. Slight vegetable taste, which seems a bit odd. Gentle bitterness. Quite a straightforward flavour.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Oily texture. Very soft carbonation on the tongue. Long, bitter finish.
Overall: A good, simple beer, but not an amazing one. I prefer Mikkeller’s single hopped Nelson Sauvin IPA to this one.

25/11/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Mikkeller Single Hop Festival. Ambrata, leggermente spenta, schiuma bianca morbida, mediamente persistente. Aroma agrumato (mandarino), resina, pino, note floreali. In bocca ha un attacco di caramello un po’ troppo invadente, il luppolo inizialmente viene fuori, ma ad ogni sorsata svanisce sempre più. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Forse non perfetta, ma comunque buona.

Draught @ 3 Små Rum. Pours copper with a big gray head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is almost all grapefruit with some orange zest and caramel. Taste is packed with citrus with orange zest, lemon zest and grapefruit juice. There’s also pine and a floral sweetness. It’s quite bitter with a smooth bitter finish.

Draught @ Kaisla, Helsinki. Originally rated on 10.2.2010. Okay IPA with notes of fruits and grass. Not the best of the series, though.
