Yet another killer stout from Prairie, decadent and nutty but not overly sweet or aggressive in its hazelnut goodness. Chocolate, roast, molasses, cherry cola, black coffee, and hazelnut all mingle about the palate, followed by a moderately sweet back end, leading to a nutty, slightly bitter fade. Delicious.

Also fab. Hazelnut whereas Betty was pumpkin. Also, guitar practice feels good.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/11/2019. Pours dense pitch black color with a small fairkly dense and fluffy dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, hazelnut, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, hazelnut coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, hazelnut, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate wood, herbal, grass, pepper, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, hazelnut, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, vanilla, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, hazelnut coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, fairly sticky/chalky, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 11% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic flavored imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, hazelnut coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Nicely soft/silky feel, and not overly bitter/charred. Fantastic balance of super rich malts and fruity hazelnut coffee complexity; with balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering hop/char bitter dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected. Not as silky/velvety as most of their other stouts.

Bottle from the local. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of brown foam that dissipates slowly. Big hazelnut forward nose with espresso, praline, cacao nib and boozy aromas. Thick body on the palate with loads more hazelnut and cacao nib. The coffee is there, but takes a backseat. Sweet, like all hazelnut stouts, but some nice roasty coffee, cacao nib towards the finish. Lingering booze, cacao and hazelnut. Loving the thicker body of these prairie stouts now.
