Truly the epitome of brewing's two thousand year evolution, Samuel Adams Utopias® offers a flavor not just unlike any other beer but unlike any other beverage in the world. Each release is a blend of batches, some having been aged up to 16 years in the barrel room of our Boston Brewery, in a variety of woods. We aged a portion of the beer in hand-selected, single-use bourbon casks from the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery. Some of the latest batches also spent time in Portuguese muscatel finishing casks, as well as sherry, brandy and Cognac casks. This flavorful, slightly fruity brew has a sweet, malty flavor that is reminiscent of a deep, rich vintage port, fine cognac or aged sherry.

0,5l(?) bottle at home. Black color, no head. smells molasses, spices, whiskey, boozy, glue. Nice smell, boozy. full body, no carbonation. tastes molasses, bourbon, vanilla, boozy, glue, wood, cognac, booze. finishes very boozy with notes of cognac, glue and booze. Nice one, but very boozy (obviously), more a liqueur than a beer really

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting XVI (Last Call) on 10/09/2025. Clear dark copper-amber color with a thin off-white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse spots of lace. Oak, malt, dark fruit, citrus and vanilla in the nose. Full-bodied and rich with flavors of oak, dark fruits, caramel malt, citrus, vanilla and cacao. The finish is sweet and boozy with a lingering chocolate, vanilla and malt aftertaste. Excellent beer all around.

Poured from 750mL bottle (2013 vintage). Clouded chestnut brown with no head. Smooth boozy bourbon with a feint cognac note. Excellent.

Bottle. For my 2500 rating. It's the Utopia. Deep amber in color. Not much head. It's very complex taste. Fruit cake, cognac, a tad boozy but nice taste.

bottle at the beer bistro.
thanks to Brian for giving me a bottle.
very dark brown pour, no head.
incredible aroma of molasses, dark ripe fruits, licorice, and some deep caramel. mouthfeel is viscous, and thick, with an oily finish. The flavor was intense. lots of alcohol, but it wasnt over the top burning, just subtle, and warming. Big caramel, and fruity finish. quite nice. i thoroughly enjoyed this!

Heavy, massively malty and vinous with some prunes, figs, raisins, toffee, warming alcohol, barrel, booze and sherry notes. Intense.
