An American Porter brewed with chipotle chilies, giving it a rich and robust malt base combined with a tingly spice.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Opaque black, espresso head. At just 6,6, the aroma is of a „big” impy - rich sweet dark chocolate and cocoa, coffee and molasses. Notes of spicy chilies and, especially, some smoke. The taste follows the aroma (though, it is not as big): classic chocolate/cocoa, the sweetness is easily balanced by burnt woody notes as well as roasty acidity ans light grassy hops. You can barely feel the heat of the chilies. Medium, smooth body. Very good.

Bottle. Black oily pour, brown head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, dark cacao and mild chipotle. Taste of roast, creamy milk, cacao and a mild chili afterburn. Smooth mouthfeel, tasty and balanced. Very good.

Bottled:
A dry, easy drinking porter where the taste of chipotle perhaps is a bit too dominant in the long run.

Pours black and thick as tar. Dense tan head. Aroma brings loads of coffee and toast. Oily, very soft and creamy. Great balance between sour and bitter, very pleasant. Long, very long finish, with a fantastic spicy after-taste (that chipotle chili pepper). Great.

Bottle from LambicSender, 2012 vintage. Pours deep opaque black with a large creamy brown head, dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasty, a touch of wood smoke, chocolate, just a faint whiff of chili. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, very light smoke. Roasty and chocolate, some ashtray, coffee grounds, chili pepper present but more from a burn than a lot of flavor. As you drink the pepper builds up to a pleasant lingering heat in the throat. Full body, quite creamy in the mouth. This is a solid porter. Not sure why that little bit of pepper burn slides this to an SHV, but whatever. Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Go Mikkeller.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 12B, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: hop floral aromas that slowly fade with time, mixed with a roasted background. hints of spicy notes and a pepper-like aroma. APPEARANCE: almost black color and opaque. medium moussy and brown head with good retention. TASTE: average floral hop flavours with a background of roasty malt and a pepper flavour. low bitterness with a semi-dry and hot (from the pepper) finish that stays on the throat. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a very interesting and different porter-like brew, with an additional "hot" character.
