330ml bottle, half poured in a chili, half drunk. Appears black with fast receding beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and a touch of chipotle. Taste is smooth, faintly tangy, not as much chili as I was expecting.. some coal and rich malts. In the chili it really underpined the richness of the meat with its porter like malt character. For a chili porter this was quite smooth and drinkable.

0.33l bottle. Black body, light brown head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, chocolate, grilled pepper, smoke and floral hops. Taste of coffee, floral hops, hint of chili pepper and smoke. The chili pepper is definitely there in the taste but it’s not hot at all. Very nice beer.

Pours very dark brown with a thin creamy brown head. Aroma is strongly roasted, smoke, smell slightly herbal. Chilli is barely perceptible behind the smoke and bitterness.

Bottle from Dicey Reilly’s, Ballyshannon [100414]
Pitch black, big dirty tan frothy head, good lacing
Aroma of smoked chilli, roasted malts, rich dark malts, savoury malts, complex aroma
Taste of rich dark malts, smoked chilli, dark chocolate, bit of soy, slight fruity hop underneath all those dark malts, chilli is hot but not too much
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, chewy rich texture, very smooth, sweet dark malts, hot chilli. Finish - nice lingering chilli heat, quite dry.
Overall - Really good chilli stout, and the chilli heat is integrated here rather than disjointed.
