What you have here is the only Imperial IPA in America inspired by a bowl of soup and a thrift store football game...

Back in the 90’s, Sam was struck by a cooking show demo teaching viewers how to properly season soup through a process of continuous peppering. As it stewed and simmered, the chef added pepper in small but consistent doses, bringing through a unique bold taste and intense savory notes. If it worked for soup, why not beer?! Inspiration sparked and Sam knew that Dogfish needed to bring this idea of continuous dosing to our hop additions in the brewhouse.

Enter our thrift store electric football game. If rigged at just the right angle over the brew kettle, and covered with hops instead of small dancing football players, the vibrating playing field would perfectly shake and shimmy the hops cascading down into the boiling wort at a consistent rate. Continual hopping was born!

Continual hopping provided a beautiful balance to our Imperial IPA - allowing us to add a foolhardy amount of hops throughout the boil without making 90 Minute crushingly bitter. With rich pine and fruity citrus hop aromas and a strong malt backbone, 90 Minute IPA created pungent, unapologetic flavor that led Esquire to call it “perhaps the best IPA in America.”

A typical Dogfish Head bit of craftsmanship. A big fluffy off-white head on a luminous amber body. Nose is well blended with spice, lemon, brown sugar and malt. Subtlety and fresh tastes again from Dogfish Head. Tropical Fruit, Floral notes, citrus, honey, sweet malt, grain and raisins lead the way in a nice blend. Spices, cherries, oak, and a touch of boozy warmth complete the story. A full rich body and appropriate carbonation.

Bottled. Pours an Amber coppery color but extremely clear with a medium head. Smell is......hoppy. As in I’m sitting in a hops flower garden. Taste is bitter, of course, but not as bad as it could possibly be.

Bottle. Even though I am a malt lover, it’s beers like these that make me really appreciate the hoppy side of things. The flowery, fruity flavor and aroma seems to actually stimulate more then taste and smell. This beer is highly recommended and will drink again.

Can share at the annual hop harvest at Vál. Pours copper with off-white head. Nose is caramel and biscuity malts, booze and resinous hops. Taste is a nice combination of the sweet notes of caramel, biscuits nd booze and the bitter hoppy notes of citruses and pine. Starts off sweet but then turns bitter pretty quickly, closing with this latter. Full bodied with soft to average carbonation, classic sipper. Tasty DIPA that's pretty old-school by now.

very nice citrus aroma, indicative of an IPA. Color was a cloudy caramel. Palate was a little thick, more than i expected. Not as bitter as i was expecting, but still one of te best IPA’s i’ve had.

From tap at Jacks Bar in The Cannery, San Francisco. Aroma is resiny with caramel malt, big hops, ripe-ish fruits, maple syrup, pine, orange jam. Flavour is bold medium sweet and bitter. Body is pretty full, especially for the style. Quite a big bittersweet resinous IIPA, not one to chug down. Good!

OG. Still such a great iipa. Hoppy bit with a real multigrain bread malt backbone. Touch of caramel, warming. Merry Christmas

Delt med K-O i solveggen på Bergstua 17. Mai. Mørk stråfarget. Klar. Høyt kritthvitt kremaktig skum som daler veldig sakte. Tynn teppelacing. Aroma av mandler. Smaken søte plommer. Balansert. Lett syrlig avslutning.
