Brewed since 1997 in Chambly, Quebec. Due to its complex character, this beer immediately attracted a lot of fans. Its fruity notes and high alcohol level often draw comparisons to port.

Crafted with four types of malt and just as many exotic spices, this deep brown ale offers notes of black cherry and dark rum.

Who can tame this powerful beast, the proud descendant of Trois-Pistoles’ legendary Black Horse?

Nose features banana, cloves, caramel malt and dark berries. A frothy off white head on a dense mud brown body (I mean that in a good way). A well balanced taste profile features dates, cloves and cinnamon, caramel malt, dark berries, yeast and apples. Great balance, lively carbonation and solid medium body and texture.

355mL can. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Bready malts, raisins, and some other dried fruits on the nose. Flavour has bready malts, dry brown sugar, raisins and other dried fruit. Pretty solid dark strong, but not really measuring up to proper Belgian stuff.

Bottled. Pours a flattish brown black with rapidly disappearing off beige head. Lots of dark fruit and malt. Raisin raspberry etc. Pretty well done.

Pours an amber color with a vanilla ice cream colored head. Fantastic pleasant aroma, smells very fruity. Flavor has slight spicy pear taste with just the right amount of malt. Palate has a slight tinge of vanilla. Overall, a great beer. My favorite Canadian beer!

Definetly Unibroue’s best beer. Seeing how i can’t get Chimay blue on a regular basis in Ontario, this is a perfect replacement, and im even starting to enjoy it more than the Chimay. Keep it up Unibroue!

Bottiglia.

355ml bottle from Arras Marche de Noel. Pours a deep unclear mahogany brown, medium off-white head. Strong dark toffee nose, continuing to taste with dark rye, dried dark fruits, dates, dark malt, firm alcohol weight, quite a satisfying quad.
