Bottle split at Arendsnest in der Dam, 27/09/15. Rich amber topped with a decent beige swirl. Nose is bitter orange, spice, sweet caramel, fruit rinds, light booze. Taste comprises rich fruit cake, dates, bitter orange, spice, rich malt. Full body, fine carbonation, oily feel, sweet close with light warming alcohol. Decent well rounded barley wine.

330ml bottle [2009 vintage]. Slightly cloudy, dark amber colour with late awakening, minimally lacing, off-white layer. Relatively flat, malty aroma has hints of toffee, a touch of red and dried fruit. Taste is moderately sweet fruity, malty, hints of dried apricot, plum, raisin, a bitter hoppy note, also a tart fruit acid touch; a mild warming alcohol note in the finish. Relatively light for its high abv.

Bottle, courtesy of martinus, many thanks. Vintage 2010. Dark amber color with minimal white head. Sweet aroma of candies, bubble gum, caramel, port, raisins, tropical fruits. sweet malty taste with honey, bee wax, raisins, dried fruits, sweet malts. Sweet finish. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Little bit sweet for me, but overall tasty barley wine.
