2005 bottle, big thanks to Mes. Dark copper looks with a small lingering off white head. Sweet and fruity slightly vinous nose with notes of brown sugar and booze. Flavour commenced with a big dose of sweet malt, followed by some fruit and spice notes. Pretty complex with great balance. Decent length in the finish. Very drinkable and slid down an absolute treat. Dug it. My 1100th rate.

Bottle, from trade with jbrus. 2005 vintage. A hazy, golden beer with a minimal, off-white head. Lots of sugary sweetness on the nose, with a port-like alcohol scent. Too sweetish I think, both aroma and flavor. There’s a honey-like twist to the sweet, port flavor, along with dried fruits and warming alcohol. Full-bodied. The finish is of the lasting kind, with sweetness, port, dried fruits and alcohol. A lovely beer in a strange way, don’t really know what to think of it, other than it’s far from bad. 100521

33cl bottle. A birthday present. 2003 vintage :-) This beer ages very nicely and is well worth keeping in your cellar. Very little carbonation (it’s an old barley wine so who cares!). Oodles of flavour, yummy!

Bottle 330ml.Clear medium amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dried berry, raisin, plum, light caramel, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, hop peppery, alcoholc warm finish. Body is medium full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20100417]

Bottle @ Brugmansia/Fonefan Tasting, April 2010. 2005 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a red hew and a small creamy white head on top. Nose is sweet and vinous. Quite mellow. Caramel, toffee and plum. A bit of warmth from alcohol. Medium and smooth palate. Low carbonation. Quite good.

2010 rating: 2005 bottle, 12%. Mild fruity aroma. Dark amber colour, some small floaties. The flavour is sweet and malty. Good dried fruit, distinct alcohol note. A bit rough around the edges, could have done with a few more years in the cellar. 6 3 6 3 17 2019 rating: 2003 bottle, 12%. Very oxodised aroma. Almost clear amber colour. No head. The flavour is also very oxidised. Has a lot of port. Low carbonation. Finishes with a high bitterness, not entirely pleasant. I do not agree that it is houdbaar tot in de eeuwigheid. 5 3 5 3 13

clear brown, slightly cloudy, small film white head. subdued aroma, faint flowery, faint boozy. faint sweet malty, alc well hidden, but not much else to stand in front. flavor is very well balanced, but not much to show for flavors. faint malty, faint boozy.alc well hidden, but leaves a boozy trail.
