Originally a Wild Dog release commemorating our 10th anniversary. Double Dog Double Pale Ale became here to stay in 2009. Could you control such a beast?
This is a big beer that calls for equally big foods. Flavor notes: Citrus hops with sweet malt and subtle alcohol burn (like a kiss on the cheek) Pairs with: Extra sharp aged Cheddar and stinky Blue cheese; smoked brisket; spicy foods with chili or cayenne pepper; earthy desserts like carrot cake.

From the casino, Evian-les-Bains, opening it on saturday after an afternoon at Bernaqua. Not really the best option during these Andalucian days in Switzerland. Even though, it a good one but heavy and I could say than one is enough for the night, boozy, 19.07.2022, at Epalinges.

Bottle pours rich amber with orange tinged foam. The foam quickly reduces to a thin lace rimming the edges of the glass. Dense, clinging mouth feel with strong taste of alcohol and a bitterness reminiscent of orange peels. A beer to be savored - a very nice double ipa!

dark hazy amber pour, with a wicked soft floral hop aroma. Lots of sweet, juicy citrus, and a nice sweet maltiness. The flavor is well balanced between the malt, and the hops. Lots of great citrus notes from the hops, and touches of ripe fruits, some plum, maybe some raisin. Its quite well balanced, and the alcohol is nowhere to be found. A good amount of bittering in the finish, and a welcome hoppy aftertaste. Nice stuff. It’s quite close to a VERY hoppy barley wine, but not quite.

Pours a deep orange copper colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, mango, herbs, bitter hops. ABV is hefty at 11.5%, unsurprisingly the alcohol doesn’t hide itself. Hoppy, bitter aftertaste. Good, but not spectacular.

Notes from 3/21/2008. Poured into an ordinary ho-hum pint glass. An inch of off-white head goes up & down, leaving a mess of crazy stitched lace & film scarring the glass. Body is orange & brown & full of haze & bubbles. Nose is soapy, but somewhat masked with menthol-like hops & loads of caramel. Syrupy & sappy, the hops are as oily & sticky as anything I've ever encountered. Once again, a soapy aspect leeks in, with an Irish Spring zest as well as a similar mouthfeel. Yes, I was one of those children. Just barely a note roast in there(somewhere). Astringent, but with plenty of caramel(though it only seems to intensify the stickiness). The hop oils do not wash off easy. It tastes as if actual pine(needles, cones, bark, & all) was used in the brewing of this beer. The balancing act just creates too much of everything. It's so sweet, it's so astringently bitter. Mouthfeel is of course thick, but also very suddy. With all this coarse carbonation, the beer should be able to move around a little, but it doesn't. Its sappiness just seals off your tongue while the alcohol linger & saturates. Overall it wasn't totally unpleasant, but would of been more palatable in a smaller serving. Yes, even 12 ounce was a little too much for me. I didn't read the label initially, but once I took a sip, I knew I had assumed too early. A different day, & different person, they might enjoy this. It's just not for me though.
