29/IX/2012 - 33cl bottle @ Contreras brewery (Gavere) with the Gentse Biervereniging - BB: 9/VIII/14 (2012-1091)

Clear blond beer, big creamy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of grains, hay, stable, bit herbal, hops, somewhat metallic, yeasty. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit fruity, lots of yeast, citrus, some grapefruit, bit malty, grains, little sour touch. Aftertaste: bitter, herbal, bit fruity, yeast, some citrus. Probably a bit too young.

On-tap between Christmas 2011 and New Year in the Delirium Bar (upstairs tap room), Brussels. Pours a murky golden yellow with a thin white head that isn’t worth talking about: it had gone by the time I’d walked back to my seat and picked up my pen to take notes. The nose was regular Belgian, in a good way: yeasty, malty and hoppy all in one smell, not easy but some Belgian beers just do it right. The taste was an amalgamation of loveliness in a glass: all the flavours a good beer should have were here in abundance, like the smell they were all bundled up into a single taste and just seemed right. What a pity about the head!

draft @ Delirium.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and tall foamy head. Yeasty and slightly grainy malty aroma with hints of overripe citrus and mildly spicy accents. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly biscuity malty and citric taste with a musty touch in the background; moderately sweet and slightly fruity malt-accented finish with a masked alcoholic note. Okay, no highlight. 15.X.11

Bottle @ home. Clear golden color, very nice large carbo-bubbles moving upwards to a big thick white head. Smell sweetness, fruityness and a faint hint of hops. Taste sweet, fruit, slightly sugar, little bit citrus and slightly bitter. Firm carbonation and medium to full body; very nice tripel in my opinion!

11.2oz grenade bottle. Hazy, almost opaque straw yellow tan. Massive foamy head laces the glass. For a Tripel, gets a 5 for appearance from me. Sweet aroma, lots of candi sugar flavor with a pleasantly herbal and dry hop balance. Yeasty, creamy. Some interesting fruity yeast tones, brandied banana. Quite a unique Tripel, almost has a candied Hefeweizen thing going on. Heavy and full bodied, but good enough to pull it off. Quite nice and unique, a great Tripel.

clear yellow, large smooth white head. very nice belgian, but actually mainly citrussy yeasty aroma. very refreshing.typically belgian, and for contreras, typically very refreshing aroma. nice job. flavor is faint citrussy bitter herbal hoppy flavor dominates unfortunately, still a good belgian, but it is a little bit of a letdown from the aroma. flavor is very dry, very tight, very belgian. very carbonated and bubbly, anyway- a tight super-dry tripel, that tastes really well.
