Anchor Porter became the first modern American porter style beer when it was introduced in 1972. A blend of specially roasted pale, caramel, chocolate, and black malts, along with our top-fermenting yeast, creates complexity without bitterness. The brew is hopped at a high rate, and naturally carbonated. The result is dark in the glass, but surprisingly light on the palate.

Apr. ’16. A 0.355 l bottle that poured a hazy brown, copper hued body with a small to medium sized head. Really fine licorice aroma along with typical roasted malt like coffee, touch of dark fruits and caramel. Flavor was balanced with sweetness and roasted malt. Medium to thin in body with a nicely rounded finish full of cocoa, dark chocolate and toffee. Might have missed a little bit of body, but it was still an enjoyable porter.

Nagy, tartós, tejeskávé színű hab. Fekete szín. Illata fekete csokis, pici savanykás felhanggal. Finom, feketecsokis ízvilág, gyümölcsös, vörösboros felhangokkal. Közepesen testes és nyomokban sincs vizes érzet. Utóíze is a pörkölt malátáról szól és jó hosszú ideig szól. Jól eltalált, kiegyensúlyozott sör.

Porter Blind Tasting. Small ghost white head. There is a surprising ester character, like light banana. I don’t get roast aromas. Its a bit of a fruity-tutti flavor for a porter. Well attenuated, low sweetness. Low hop. I am weirded out by the banana/ruity-tutti aspect but I have seen that in porters, rarely, before.

355ml bottle, watching Super Bowl. Dark, dark brown with a creamy tan head. Sweet chocolate aroma, taste is similar. Very smooth
