Imperial Porter.
Shall one compare thee to a fair beer,
Not even this perfect porter before thou will do thee justice.
Thou art more complex, brave and cunning.
Thou have changed more than a brew will ever.
Thou may be lil’, but thy mind is greater than words can speak and beer will ever taste.

Intensive aroma with melanoidines, smoked plum, coffee, cocoa cake, great baltic porter notes. Mouthfeel is thick, full and sweet but this sweetness increases the experience of beer being full bodied. An extremely enjoyable beer with no hints of alcohol, complex and very well drinkable. One of best porters I have ever drunk

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 21 Feb 2016) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with strong sweet coffee, liquorice and caramel. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, strong black coffee, cacao, molasses, raisins, dark fruit and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Full body, thick and fairly oily mouthfeel. A certain sweetness. Solid and well made imperial porter in excellent balance for its strength. Lovely stuff!

Bottle. A- Alcohol, sharpies, chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Alcohol, cocoa. P- Full body, sharp texture, average carbonation, abrasive finish. O- I had looked forward to this one only to take a sip and be whipped with a palate shocking abrasiveness. Maybe I just got a triple strength bottle or something but this was like liquid sharpie. I’ve had smoother bourbon.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Coal black with medium light brown head. Aroma is fudge, medium body, medium carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is rich chocolate, dark malt, some herbal hops, and some anise.

Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size. Black color, quite dense brown head, good retention. Aroma’s: roasted, sweet, red fruit, alcoholic. Retronasal it’s alcohol upfront, some acetone/spiritus even, roasted, red fruit, sweet. Flavor is rather sweet, fruity, roasted. Medium bodied. Finishes sweetish and with roast, which leads to a roasted bitter finish.

330ml bottle from Liberty Wine Merchants CD. Very rich aroma AND taste: vinous, sweet, dark fruits, plums, raisin, grape, sophisticated notes of alcohol. Superb balanced. Excellent beer.

(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 5 2016) Pours inky black with a small tan head and no lace. Aroma is fairly sweet with molasses, burnt sugar, stewed dark fruits, light anise, a bit of chocolate sauce, some ash and tar for slight balance. Flavour is quite sweet, again riding a core of molasses and burnt sugar with chocolate, dark fruit, a bit of vanilla in there too, slight licorice. Towards the finish there is a bit of bitter cacao, burnt malt and ash but really low on roast overall. A bit of bitterness builds when warm, supported by alcohol heat. Medium full body, low carb, oily and smooth. Nice and rich, a bit sweet for me and not extremely complex, but a big dark sipping beer with low roast that seems to hit the notion of imperial porter on the head.
