Tasted at Trollkelder, Ghent. Dark brown and thick, lasting head. Dry, roasted barley flavor, almost smoky. Lightly sweet malt flavor, and a salty, dry finish.

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with a brownish off white head. The aroma was bitter brandy alcohol and fruit. The taste however was sweet roasted caramel malt that finished dry.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of nuts, brown sugar, and citrus fruits, as well as light notes of vegetables. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of spices and nuts, as well as lesser notes of fruit, malt of a roasted character, which makes the end a bit dry, yet combined with a sweetness, that lingers.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, dark amber golden with a tall, dense, off-white head. Lightly sweet aroma of roasted malt, fruit and yeast. Surprisingly light - almost watery - body. Flavours of roasted malt and a pleasant fruitiness with some bitterness in the finish. Interesting. 120207

Hazy mahogany beer; fast disappearing yellow-brown head. Very rich, malty, portwine aromas, but not oxydized, vinous, wood and some just-less-than-usually-strong brandy. Very dry, nearly wry, woody, dark malts taste - very surprising seen the nose! Restsugars all the same, bit caramelly. Rather well bodied, certain slickness. Dry-out effect. Surprising, but far from bad. I would have loved some tannine-like sourness, to make it more Flemish brown-like. Dark malts, dark green leaves, some dry dark chocolate, aromatic. Dry, grainy taste, dry hay flavour with dark malts, bit bready. Quite full bodied, very fiery throat feel, can’t be the alcohol though. There’s a new wind blowing through the old Contreras brewery. I’m not sure I’m a big fan of blowing away all the dust with the old settled recipes, however...

Dark ruby, small mostly vanishing off-white head. Slightly spice aromay: ginger, clove and some chocolate. Crisp mouthfeel. Fruity, a bit spicey, medium-bodied. Malty base. Hints of grassy hops. Decent ... dubbel?

Bottled. Dark brownish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma of vegetables, plum and some spices. Creamy palate, with flavour of weak plum, malts and hops. Breadish. Not much aftertaste to talk about.
