33cl bottle. Poured a hazy straw colour with a fizzy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is metallic hop, stale malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a watery yeast, floral hop, light citrus palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Donkergeel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig , niet zoet met iets van noot en gras. Best aardig bier.

Tasted in 2010 and again now in 2016. Beer celebrating Flanders’s cycling culture. Violent gusher (2016 version at least) - and then I see the ominous name of Gaverhopke, why am I not surprised... Evidently thick, papery, cream white, sticky head, cloudy peach blonde colour. Strong yeasty sourishness in the nose along with banana ester, gingerbread, lemon zest, sugared rhubarb, damp straw, dough, hints of yoghurt, cardboard, hay, dried mushrooms and green apple. Strongly carbonated onset, minerally, banana-like estery sweetness, gooseberry, yellow plum, bready malt base, sourish hint making the finish dryish, accompanied by a mild earthy and grassy hop bitterishness and some retronasal clove-like phenols, however stronger in the original version than in the current Gaverhopke version; ends very earthy, almost potato starch-like, including a ’powdery’ mouthfeel. I can take a slight amount of gushing but just like most other Gaverhopke beers, this is just ridiculous. I do not understand how this passed Delhaize’s quality standards - this tasting is based on a bottle from a Delhaize pack - and I sincerely hope Gaverhopke’s severe gushing problems will be solved now that they have installed a new brewery!

Average Belgian witbier. Has a bit different herbs than the usual witte, but it’s all modest and friendly.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy deep golden color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, wheat, bread, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced fruity/earthy yeast, bready malt, and hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, hops, and bready malt flavors; with good robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this a nice and pleasant summer saison style. Well balanced yeast, hop, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Cloudy golden without much head or lacing. Some tangerine that carries this one through on pure sweetness more or less. Good drink, well balanced. Sweetness not overdone though. Tap at Novare Res.
