A classic dry stout of 7% vol alcohol, brewed with smoked wheat malt and flavored with fresh vanilla.
Charbon is a beer with contradictions: the roasted flavors work together with the smoke flavor from oak-smoked wheat malt to give a good dose of pit with the beer. On the other hand the customized extract of fresh vanilla gives us a mild soft and subtle touch in the beer. The combination provides a thrilling Stout on which the antithetical taste nevertheless ensures a harmonious and balanced whole.

Tap at moeder lambic fountain. A clear mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting beige head. Aroma is nice earthy roast, lactose, chestnut, hint of smoke. Flavour is composed of nutty roast, earthy roast, robust, light smoke, lactose. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, moderate carbonation. Good fes.

Keg at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, 11/02/24. Black with a good sized lasting tan head, full glass lacing ensues. Nose is dark malts, dried fruit rinds, herb, spice, cinnamon. Taste comprises charr, earthy roast, burnt toffee, less cinnamon than the nose but still present, herb, dates, cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Tidy flavoursome stout.

bottiglia 33 cl, bel cappello di schiuma fine color cappuccino persistente, colore marrone intenso nero, al naso caffè liquirizia frutti di bosco leggere note di affumicato, in bocca malto tostato e affumicato caffè cioccolato fondente liquirizia olive nere vaniglia, corpo rotondo, leggero acidula, alcool perfettamente bilanciato, carbonatazione moderata, dolce con amaro accentuato lungo nel finale. Ottima equilibrata con una bella persistenza di affumicato. c. Cantina della birra 27.01.24

Bottled. Black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is sweet malts, some roasted and mild smoked wooden tones. Flavour is roasted malts, some smoke, vanilla, mild dried fruits, figs and some slight sugary tones.

13/11/2022. Bottle bought at La Cave du 6eme KM, Noumea. Pours hazy dark mahogany brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is charred wood, smoked malts, chocolate, smoked back bacon, woodchip, touch of liquorice. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, oily, average carbonation. Not bad but not a favoured style of mine.

Large creamy tan head stayed on a dark mahogany coloured body. Vanilla, peanut & lactose aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & soft with a lighter clean back. Vanilla, nutty, smoky & spiced tastes with a lighter sweet pig finish. I've been let down by the pig! 🐖🐖🐖

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe - Jet black, tan head. Nose is sweet charcoal, coffee, cocoa, burnt sugar. Taste is dry and dusty, quite bitter chocolate taste. Bitter end.

Bière 33 cl achetée chez l'abbaye des saveurs à Lille. Au service, on dirait du coca cola, tant par la couleur que la mousse et même le son que font les bulles vives qui s'évanouissent... La mousse ne tient pas longtemps. Nez ultra fumé qui rappelle presque du bacon. Bouche sur le cacao, le café, le fumé très présent, une bière intense et à la carbonatation vive pour ce registre. Très très réussie ! (M)
