Well balanced, medium-bodied, with a deep amber-red color, this beer's complex palate covers all the bases. A malty caramel sweetness is followed by notes of chocolate and a dry, slightly roasty finish, complemented by a touch of fruity, spicy hops.

Some restaurant: pours dark amber with a white head. Light caramel, toffee, and roast. Taste is quite malty. Not too much in the way of hops. Medium bodied. Did not really stand out too much for me.

Tap @brewpub
Deep dark amber color, small off-white head. Berries and some caramel in the nose. Light-bodied. Caramel, berries, some chocolate, not very strong palate. Quite typical "brewpub amber".

RB #900 Sample from tap at the brewpub. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Toffee/caramel and slight roasted malt. Flavour is caramel malty, dry. No real bitterness. Dry almost coffee like finish.

2004 draught @ the brewery. Amber appearance, white head, wavy appearance. Aroma of grain, very sweet malt, dusty earthiness. Flavor is pretty light and restrained, low if any hops apparency, honey, nuts, more honey and a hint of fruitiness on the end. Good smooth texture. Pleasant, easy drinking amber, but the flavor is not up to par with some of the better ambers I’ve had.

Quiet fascinating as the nose gave off hints of chocolate and oranges, but the body was full and started with brandy, chocolate and toasted malts, but once this beer really warmed up heavy black tea flavours came into play that gave the beer a smooth rounded finish as I would expect when drinking tea.
