GINGA NINJA

red india pale ale brewed w. fresh ginger

once upon a time there was a young brew master who fell in love with a ginger haired maiden. he loved her fiery locks, quick wit and samurai sharp personality. he proposed marriage and crafted a beer for her, an original red ale brewed with refreshing fresh ginger and a touch of hoppiness that typified her personality. when she took her first sip at their wedding she knew she had made the right choice. try tyler’s ginga ninja red ipa brewed with 6 lbs of fresh ginger in every batch and hopped with centennial, cascade & bravo hops. if not at your wedding then on a hot afternoon as you wait on your pig to finish roasting, or while chompin on a crisp apple and a creamy wheel of camembert.

Pours pinkish amber with a light white head. Aroma of malt, spices. Taste has harsh herbal notes, citrus and lemongrass. Palate has lemongrass and ginger. Tough to drink but well made.

12 ounce can. Pours a orange hue with a large white head. A really nice fresh hop citrus nose. Fresh fruity hops, light ginger, caramel, sort of tastes like a old school Celebration style IPA which I am very happy about. Quite nice.

12 ounce can. Hazy orange brown color.nlarge rocky beige head. Spicy toasted malt nose hints at ginger and orange peel. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor has spicy fruity notes. Ginger, orange marmalade and pine needles. Peppery in middle. Long bitter hop finish.

12oz can pours a clear, dark orange with some frothy, white head. Nose is ginger and malt. Flavor is the same. Very simple.

Pretty foul stuff. Ginger and some other garbage. Avoid. Nasty aftertaste. Can.

Can from Craft Beer Cellar, Washington DC. Deep copper in colour, with a decently-sized, off-white, head. Leafy hops, sweet, heavy, malts, and hint of ginger in the boozy finish. Good

12oz cab. Lots of caramel malts and bitter hops. Not my bag. Ginger is preceptable and actually works well with the hops. Unfortunately, the hops don’t appeal to me and the sweet malts are too much.

Draught at Ginger Man Boston, 3/31/17.
Clear auburn with a small, beige head atop showing moderate retention.
Crystal malt and ginger with some peppery spice and sourdough...Ginger does seem fresh and they’ve certainly added plenty of it...
Lightly to moderately sweet with some crystal malt iced tea character, honey and light pepper before the barrage of ginger hits and completely dominates the beer. Lightly sticky texture with moderate carbonation. Are there hops in this?? There certainly is ginger. I love ginger, but come on....
