Draught @ Albion. Reddish amber with normal sized foamy light beige head, sweet caramel aroma, medium carbonation, hoppy taste mixed with sweetish caramel, thin body, long bitter finish with caramel aftertaste. Quite a nice mix of hops and caramel.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent looking hazy red color with no head nor any lacing.
The smell had a rich herbal citrus to lightly spiced over caramel maltiness.
The taste was slightly sweet herbal citrus over the caramel maltiness again. A mostly herbal to caramel aftertaste leading to a semi-wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed mostly rounded out and fairly smooth (I wonder how old this is).
Overall, I say a decent APA, nothing spectacular but still worthy of having again, preferably with food.

What the East Coast passes off as hoppy, comes off as kind of watery and soapy for a NW drinker. Pinkish orange body with minimal head, aroma is kind of funky and flowery. taste is sweet malt and bittersweet hops, kind of soapy. There’s a decent beer in here trying to get out.

A: Hard pour yields a 1 finger pillowy tan head atop a tawny amber clear body. Head retains and laces well. S: Subdued hops and toast with a sweet fruit note. T: A tart, fruity hop bite on first sip is quite pronounced. Unexpected (strange?) but OK. A little pine resin. Malts fairly nondescript save for a bit of roast flavor on the finish. M: Fine bead carbonation is very nice. A bit of hop chewiness also makes things interesting. Not enough to save this ale from mediocrity. O: Interesting take on whatever style this is supposed to be. Red ale/Pale ale? I don’t think the flavors meld very well together to create any complete "whole". Disjointed? I like Stoudt’s pils. Won’t buy this again.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and dank herbal hops. Taste follows aroma, medium-heavy bitter. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Very good.

Bottle: Pours clear, red-orange/amber with a small tan head. Toasty caramel malt, spicy hop aroma. Taste is slightly bready caramel. Herbal, spicy, orange-peel bittering. Pretty good.

Bottle at home, from Wegmans Downington, 04/12/13. Dark amber with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is caramel malt, straw, light tropicals, candied orange peel, hop presence. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit malt, caramelised sugars, orange peel, trace of red grapefruit, candied sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grassy hop bitterness leading to a lightly sugar coated finale. Ok stuff.
