Pours a beautiful near black, thick head, from a can. Big resin aroma, some chocolate malt. Similar flavor, well balanced. Very good beer.

Draught at Bear Republic. Deep brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, citrus, pine, tangerine, light grain and toast. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of citrus, coffee and light grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, butterscotch. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich hop bitter, molasses, sweet fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not a great deal of life and lacks the defining black IPA hop character, but a good beer all the same.

Bottle shared thanks to Jmgreenuk. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, butterscotch, sweet malt, caramel, fudge and a subdued fruity hop character. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

I bought a bomber of this as a gift for a friend on his birthday, but of course I couldn’t help but say yes to his offer to share it with me! Black color, smallish head, not as hoppy as I might have expected, nose was dark chocolate and a touch of coffee, some light piney hops. Flavor very similar, malty and smooth with an amazing palate and soft carbonation. Very balanced with citrus/pine hops rounding out the coffee/choc flavors.

Very dark brown, the aroma has rich molasses malts. Sweet, not a lot of hop save for a little bitterness. A dash of alcohol...good balance, arguably a robust porter.

65 cl bottle @ home, bottled 21.05.2013
Instant pine resin -aromas when opening the bottle. Aroma has resin, some vanilla, woody tones and hints of tobacco. Flavour has cocoa, hops, vanilla, and some doughy tones. Also some rye. Feels a bit messy and odd for a BIPA, but nice anyway.
