Bottle: Poured a toffee brown with a light beige to khaki head. Aroma is huge malts, veggie, leafy, caramel. Taste is caramel, malty, veggie, full bodied, drying leafy finish.

Deep, deep red with a creamy, beige head. Aroma of old burnt log, molasses, berries. Taste is mildly bitter with a hint of berry tartness. Medium-bodied, slightly watery texture but still decent chewiness. Sessionable. Good.

Bottle – gift from my brother. Has a pungent aroma of roasted malts and golden syrup. Pours a rich ruby red with a sizeable cream head. Initial taste in the mouth is dominated by rye malts. Slowly other flavours flood in, dried fruits, cherries and figs, toffee and some peppers and spices. Finish is dry and slightly spicy. An excellent beer – really hits the spot. More of an Irish red ale than a bitter though.

Auch wenn mein Exemplar noch ein MHD von über 2 Monaen gehabt hätte, hatte es offenbar durch das Lagern in der wohnzimmerlichen Vitrine Schaden genommen. Es war daher leicht muffig, konnte aber seine würzigen Stärken aber noch gut ausspielen. So hatte es schöne Noten nach Muskatnuss, Zimt und Orangenzeste. Es mag nicht so tiefgründig wie andere sein, aber hat durchaus seine Stärken. Mir persönlich war es aber zu unausgewogen.

500ml bottle. Dark ruby, off white head, good retention. Aroma of sweet treacle, malts, spice, red berries. Taste is roasted malts, burnt caramel, quite sweet, light red fruits, pepper, moderate bitterness and quite dry. Its good.
