Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

Bottle. Loved this beer. Had that slight maple and pecan and it was not too sweet. Nice brown color with a decent head.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with black center and red edges. Head was finger creamy fast dissipating beige. Strong maple sugar aroma. Taste is sweet maple sugar, malts, and pecans in the finish.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Aroma is full of rich chocolate and toast notes with a medium nuttiness that works well with the sweet chocolate. Light maple character. Low dark fruit esters. Pours a nice dark down with light brown and burnt amber hues. Moderately thick, light tan head with pretty decent retention. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with light chocolate and faint roast notes. Faint coffee and maple notes with medium to medium strong nuttiness. Light bitterness with light dark fruit esters. Medium light caramel and toffee. Some lingering toffee, caramel and chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Medium light stickiness in the finish. Overall an alright beer with a lot of pecan character, but it feels like it is missing a bit of its base porter character. The maple syrup notes are light, but I think that is probably a good thing. Clean fermentation without much ester character.

I’m not a huge fan of this. Maple syrup doesn’t add the best of elements for me - I don’t necessarily appreciate the overdose of syrupy sweetness here. Some roast malt aroma as well but there isn’t a whole lot of balance here. Bottle.

Bottle. Roasty pecan, light maple, and chocolate/coffee aroma. Deep mahogany with a large beige head. Roasty coffee, astringent nuts, and very light maple flavor. Body on the light side of medium, moderate carbonation.

Bottle at my friends wedding. Aroma is some light maple syrup notes, sweet malts, some light nutty and toasty notes. Flavor was sweet maple, coffee, molasses notes. Malts. Pecan notes. I want to knock it, but it really wasn’t that bad at all.

Came in their Spring Thaw pack, purchased at Shaws in Montpelier, VT. Dark brown colour with a beautiful creamy beige head, good retention and very thick lacing. Roasted malt aromas with the maple syrup. Same for the taste, very well-blended not to be too sweet. The pecan nut comes in the aftertaste, creating a little tart. This is a nice flavoured beer for spring.
