Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, yeast, ripe dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel toffee. Taste is sugary sweetness, but not too sweet. A good beer from Maallust.

Bottle at Winterbierfestival, Gouda: The year 1818 The Society of Humanitarianism (Maatschappij van Weldadigheid) was set up, too sent poor families from the big cities of western Netherlands too the sparsly populated province of Drenthe to get something of a new living. Now this beer is brewed in these parts of the country and its an great one indeed. Copper/brown coloured brew with an taste of berries, plum, pear and raising and good bitter aftertaste. Its gives an very warm feel in the mouth.

Purchased DeBierkonig, Amsterdam, March 2024. Consumed in May. Surprisngly well hopped for the style, proabably the most hop forward Abt ale I have had. Then it is sweet malt and dried fruit. Rich, thick palate. Good.

Pretty good beer, but not top notch for a quad. Really good malt body, but a bit conflated with some harshness in the staleness of the beer. Bier Konig ams

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with short tannish head. Aromas of raisins, copper, dry toasted malts and light brown sugar. Flavours follow with fuller malts and extra sweetness. A big sweet quad. Almost creamy. Very nice
