De naam Damiate is ontleent aan de verhalen over de bijdrage van de Haarlemmers aan de 5de Kruistocht naar Jeruzalem. Onderweg daar naar toe hebben de Haarlemmers geholpen de stad Damiate in te nemen (dmv het doorvaren van een ketting). Als dank hiervoor heeft Haarlem een zwaard en een kruis op zijn wapenschild gekregen. Ook de klokjes die de sluiting van de stadspoorten aangeven worden Damiaatjes genoemd.
Jopen Damiate DRIPA is een dubbele IPA, dubbel in alcohol en dubbel in bitterheid.

Bottle @ pre-TFODRBSG, Ulfborg. Clear reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, rye and moderate hoppy - fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 170812

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich hops, sweet caramel, pine, peach, flowers and malt.

Bottle 8,5% @ FOneFan, Pre-Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2012. Hazy dark maber with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, hop and a little toffee. Flavour is malt, caramel, medium sweet, hop, peach, little citrus, little pine, grapefruit and bitter.

33 bottle (1320 of 2850) @ home. Dark amber to red color, slightly hazy. Small off white head. Aroma’s: citrus, resin, some tropical fruit, and caramel & rye maltiness to give it balance (more rye & caramel retronasal). Flavor is rather bitter with a malty sweet backbone, well balanced. Somewhat prickly carbonation. Medium body. Finishes with a firm bitterness. Great, very tasty, balanced brew.
