33 cl bottle from DeCicco & Sons in Bedford, NY. A lift of the cap brings a rush of CO2 and a wisp of of yeasty malt. Honey gold pour is topped by a pillowy white head. Fragrant yeasty malt nose hints at Meyer lemons. Flavor upfront is bittersweet citrus and biscuity malt. Amazingly flavorful and the sharp bitter edge is reminiscent of dandelion greens or fresh radicchio. Finishes clean with more peppery notes in the long aftertaste. Delicious.

My first trip down the road for this style, curious combination. And likewise an unusual name, I wonder what Yul Brynner would think of it, much less Nikolai Gogol. This 33 cl bottle came from the behind-the-bar inventory at Ship & Mitre a couple of months past. Using my Cowtown snifter this go-around I see a summery, straw-yellow body followed by a tall head of creamy white foam. Vigorous carbonation also. The scent is a positive with some yellow fruit and yeast. A drink now, well, interesting. Hops, grain, hay and a bit of unsweet apricots. Is it peculiar to say I sort of like it? I’m somewhat surprised.

How have I not rated this before? On draught at Brownhill & Co, Leeds. Bright golden and hazy with a big white head. Light aroma of fresh lemon zest, some grassy and grainy notes. Slight sweetness at first, leading to antenna but delectable bitterness and a drying finish. Bitter hop notes in the aftertaste. Medium to heavy carbonation. A great beer!

Wonderful. Fantastic session pale ale. Loads of hops but not overly bitter at all. I wish all Blanche biers were as good as this. Intense carbonation. Bottled in September.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Have wanted to try this for a little while as it's both a new style and a new region for me. So... it's hazy gold with a large white head. Lager-y aroma with grass. Tastes of grass, hay, white bread and a touch of banana milkshake. A little spice, some dusty old lemon. Quite bitter, and lightly dry. It grew on me.
