(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with notes of yeast, tropical fruit, pineapple, mango, grass and spices. Fruity, spicy taste with tropical fruit, grass, spicy hops and a certain alcohol bite in a slightly metallic finish. Medium to full body, fairly sweet. Hardly adventurous, but a solid triple.

Sampled this beer at Auberge Douceurs Belges in Quebec City, September 2005. Poured a golden-beige-amber colour that was lightly cloudy. Lots of small sediments all over, small head and some little fizzy wavy lacing. Great aromas composed of many spices, peach, mango, Belgian yeast and bits of plums. Dry and edgy mouthfeel. Lots of alcohol in the taste at first. Very strong tasting start. No sweetness found here. Fruits and spices are present in the aftertaste (mostly oranges). Beautiful nose, but a bit too strong on the taste, alcohol being too present.

33cl, 2 years past exp. date. Ok, so no Belgian beer lover who takes himself seriously would taste and review this beer. But I recieved half a case of these two years back when they just had expired. As this is the only Leffe with refermentation in the bottle, that's ok. It has become a very interesting and complex beer. Pours a dark orange, little clouded. Very fine laced head. Proteins in big flakes swivel around in the glass. Very spicy smell, karamel, honey, cloves and pepper. Taste in the same range, spicy and a little bitter. Complexe aftertaste.

Hazy gold with a light beige coat. Orange aroma with coriander seeds and some earth/ cave yeast. Less carbonated mouthfeel than other tripels I’ve had. A little alcohol burn, some yeast and bitterness at the end. Peaches, mango and some mysterious depth. Lots of spice - coriander, clove, juniper and white pepper. Identifiably Leffe. One of the better ones, and a nice Tripel.

Pours a cloudy blonde with decent head into a chalice. Aroma isn’t much, just alcohol and citrus notes, which means there’s hops floating around somewhere. Good flavour, dark malts and syrup, caramel, hops, all the good stuff you’d expect from Leffe but there’s not much to differentiate it from the brewery’s other brews. In fact between this and the Brown I can barely tell the difference.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Very zippy, nice head. Starts strong, also dry, modest woody-fruity notes, a bit earthy. Finish is a bit moldy and metallically. Not bad, but there are better ones.
