Six is a dark rye beer with layered flavors including chocolate, caramel, pepper, wood, cherry and tropical fruit. It starts semi-dry and smooth and finishes fully dry and tart with a small bite from the hops. The overall balance of the Six makes it easy to pair with richly prepared meats along with many harder cheeses.

Keg at the taproom in Portland, August 2016. Pours clear mahogany with a cream head. Aroma: roasted malt, nuts, chocolate, dried fruits. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, rye bread, caramel, light grassy. Medium body with soft carbonation

Pours a clear reddish brown, great head of almost tan foam, pretty good lacing.
I smell pitted fruit, rye, caramel malt. Overall, definitely on the malty side.
Rye is upfront and somewhat spicy. Caramel malt adds some sweet notes, fruit is subtle, get some nuttiness.
Medium body, carbonation is spritzy.
Enjoyable. Alcohol does provide some warming.

bottle. clear brown, huge smooth light brown head. rye bread, malts, sour malts in the aroma. quite nice aroma. also some brown cookie spices in there. really nice, quite complex flavor with notes of rye, nuts, caramel, pepper, cola nuts, dark caramel, prickly mouthfeel, tastes like a brown ale only more dry and with some added spicy flavors.

Bottle. Cloudy deep brown with a huge beige head, fully lasting. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, bread, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish with a rye/spice aftertaste. Some dark fruit tastes along with citrus. Enjoyable.
