bottle pitch black, smooth light brown head. aroma is charred wood and smoked malts. very smoked. raisins leads my thinking to christmas pudding after it has been lighted up. flavor is roasted malts, raisins, booze that i cannot place flavor wise, charred wood, brown beans. Tastes more like a meal than a dessert. not as sweet as many other pastry stouts.

Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Pours cloudy black with a quickly dissipating, frothy, beige head. Aroma of candied date, fig, rum-soaked raisin, soy, teriyaki, wood, chocolate praliné, vanilla, brandy, sugared espresso, cinnamon. Taste has very sweet date, raisin & prune in a toffee body, bitter coffee nibs & toast balancing it out along with an earthy, umami, soy-like, almost salty accent; bit herbal too. Dry, earthy hoppy finish, more dried fruits, vanilla in the nose, wood & warming brown rum-like alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Another great iteration in this style by Laugar, but the Aurrera Stanitsa impressed me even more.
