I first came across good beer working at the a bar chain called The Bishop’s Arms. Last year we were asked to make a celebratory beer for their 20th anniversary.

Bacchanale is a sparkling farmhouse ale brewed with Saaz, Galaxy and brett.

Keg at CBC Covent Garden - London. Thanks to Kenny for the share! Pours clear yellow-gold with a foamy white head. Big hops in this one, some pine needles, alcohol, pale bread, minerals. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with light warmth, piney resins, a bit of citrus. So so.

Craft Holborn. Keg. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and crisp. Light malts. Light savoury brett. Traces of mango and perhaps guava. Light orange, more tropical fruits linger in the background. Light semi dry finish. Nicely joined up and very drinkable.

Draft - Mandarin and barrely booze notes with caramel. Cloudy gold with a thin white head. Alcohol and boozy harshness, sweet candy and caramel with a dry finish. Too much booze and sweetness for me.

Keg big thanks to Kenny. It pours cloudy golden-orange with a small white head. The nose is earthy, peachy, orange, apricot, earth, brett, orange peel, candy, so juicy, juicy fruits, spice and even more tropical fruits. The taste is bitter, juicy fruits, earthy brett, orange peel, tangerine, grapefruit, doughy, light alcohol, orange muffin and light spice with a dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and lightly sticky mouth-feel.

375ml bottle from Saveur-Biere

Pours dark orange with a foamy head. Aroma of earthy notes, grassy hops, bretta, ripe fruits, yeast and spices. Taste is stingy, grassy and earthy with some peppery spicy notes, ripe fruits, leathery bretta notes and fruity hops. Finish is spicy, hoppy and tartish with some ripe fruits and bretta notes. A bit weird, but okay.

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Bellmansgatan, Stockholm, 12 June 2014) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, spicy nose with citrus, peaches, spicy yeast and a slightly bretty sourness. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of orange peel, dried apricots, citrus, spicy yeast and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty with a balanced brett note. Nice one.

On tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. This is quite a cloudy one. Deep orange in color and it has a tiny filmy white sidesticking top top. Lovely nice. Citrus and a little funky sourness. Yeast is presents is wet leafs, green acidic apples and grass with funky brett tones in the back. It has a wood dry and slightly sour taste as well. Yeasty white currants lots of grassy almost zesty bitterness here. It's a little salty as well and somewhat exciting to drink. In the mouth it has a oily feeling and it's softly carbonated with small prickling bubbles. Ends more wood tart and mouth drying. All in all quite a good saisonish thing. 11.01.2014
