I first came across good beer working at the a bar chain called The Bishop’s Arms. Last year we were asked to make a celebratory beer for their 20th anniversary.

Bacchanale is a sparkling farmhouse ale brewed with Saaz, Galaxy and brett.

Draught at SBWF 2013. Nice balance between brett, orange peel and pine needles. Modern hoppy but not exessive amounts, very drinkable.

Draught at SBWF. Hazy golden, small head. Tart floral nose. Dry and slender with spritzy mouthfeel. Some funky cobwebs, mirabelles and grass. Salty bitter finish. The most relaxed and pleasant beer yet from Omnipollo.

Draught @ The Bishops Arms Park Avenue. Pours very hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity and funky with crackers, blood orange juice, grapefruit juice, orange zest, peaches, mango, pineapple, moist grass, dry soil, barnyard, leather, lemon zest, pepper corns, cilantro, lemon grass and brett. Taste is slightly bitter, tiny sour, fruity, funky and floral with crackers, blood orange juice, brett, orange zest, grapefruit juice, moist grass, dry soil, pepper corns, coriander, dry wood, white grapes, barnyard, lemon zest, mango, papaya, pineapple, apricots and hints of lemon juice, leather and pine needles. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tiny spicy astringent, round and medium bodied. Finish is fruity and funky with crackers, blood orange juice, dry soil, grapefruit rinds, orange zest, barnyard, moist wood, pine needles, unripe tropical fruits and pepper corns. A fruity funky blood orange bomb adding up to a very tasty modern US-style saison. Also had an interesting chat with the brewer and I’m happy to see his interest in the style and his promises to make more.
