A harmony of Styrian Goldings hops, combined with the flavour of ripe fruit, delivers a delicious taste of candied plum; and a blend of pale ale and crystal malt gives it an intense auburn colour.

Cask at Fat Cat (Kelham) - Brown body, thin white head. Fruity malts, bit of spice, fairly uninspiring amongst some good beers.

Cask-conditioned at the WG Grace (JDW), Bristol 19/12/2022. Amber in colour, with a slick of off-white, head. A malty beer, with some caramel character, leafy hops, berries and a moderately bitter finish with a taste of plum. Ok.

Claims to be Christmas in a glass, but that's pushing it to be honest! Amber coloured with a frothy white head and not a lot going on aroma-wise, just hints of fruit malt cake. Lighter bodied than hoped for, it's fruity and malty with some sourish bitterness, but nothing much beyond a standard brown bitter, must have been a plum shortage.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours a bright copper with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s a decent aroma of malts and some generic hops. In the mouth malts are to the fore alongside dried fruit and plums. Plus traces of cake, herbs and spices. Quite grainy as well. Spices linger in the finish. Pretty decent this.

Cask at the White Swan JDW, Solihull. Poured a clear copper colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt and cherries. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, with a smooth, malty, juicy red berry fruit, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at The Pennsylvanian (Spoons), Rickmansworth, Herts. A copper/brown coloured pour with a medium frothy white head on top. Fruity, malty, plum, spice aroma and taste. Better than expected and quite a drinkable bitter.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London on 30th December 2019. Copper with dense whitish foam affording full lacing. Malty and spicy aroma. Spices, berries and a touch of aniseed in-mouth. Leafy hops, caramel and sweet, spiced fruits dominate the finish. Smooth mouthfeel and light to medium body.
