Our 2011 Great American Beer Festival® Gold Medal award winning Kellerbier style Kӧlsch. Same recipe as our standard Kӧlsch, just an unfiltered version served cellar style like a German Brewer might enjoy directly from the lager tank. The experience might not be as crisp as the filtered version due to the presence of yeast and other proteins that are typically filtered out. Try them both and see for yourself!

Draft. Cloudy pale yellow pour. Some nutty bread funk. OK but nothing really amazing. ........

Tap into a pilsner glass showing well filtered neon yellow with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows clean bready malts. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Clean bready malts throughout with a light bitterness on the finish.

Draught @ Mad Fox Brewing Company - Glover Park Taproom, Washington, DC. Pours hazy straw with small white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops, with touches of citrus. Bitter, hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of yeast and malt and citrusy hints. Estery and bitter aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Drinkable but nothing really special.

Awesome, easy drinking kolsch with a very highlighted barley profile. Pours hazy golden with good head and lacing. Touch of citrus and a sharp, crisp finish. Tap at brewpub.

Golden coloured body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of metal, light malt, alcohol and a hint of herbs and lemons. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour up front with a very faint malt flavour and not much else - perhaps some light citrus. Aftertaste is bland, mild, uninspired and very simple - just some light malt and crisp metal, that’s it. Overall, a pretty poor offering that definitely isn’t recommended, but the only saving grace was that I could try this at Nats Park and avoid being disappointed when there is much better beer available. I sampled this twenty ounce pint on draught at Nats Park for the Yankees versus the Nationals on 20-May-2015 for US$10,00.

4 oz draft pour at Mad Fox. Hazy pale yellow with off-white head. Nice head retention. Aromas of citrus, yeast, light bready and wheaty notes. Tastes of wheat, citrus, bready notes, yeast, lemon lime. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Like this a tiny bit more than the filtered version.
